The Manly Whistle Blower

No, the Sea Eagles haven't got a version of Scott Seward, telling all and sundry about nefarious deeds taking place. Rather, the ingloriously named Lottoland has a patron who was permitted to blow a whistle in the manner of a referee whenever the Eels were in possession during yesterday's match. This is no triviality. We've all heard a whistle being used as part of a group of supporters during a chant. That's almost a part of footy. However, was happening yesterday was not in the spirit of the game and could have caused a player to stop on a run or not contest the ball. It was not random, and could be heard clearly across the ground.Parramatta were not impacted by the ludicrous antics and for that I'm glad. In reality it could have impacted either team. However, if this continues the Manly club could be seen as condoning the practice. Hopefully, the message gets put out there and the culprit pulls his head (or heads) in so that one or two idiots don't spoil the experience for others.

  • OUTRAGEOUS!!!

  • What's your solution 60's, ban whistles at games? I get what you are saying but it's pretty tough thing to enforce against.
    • Of course not mate. Nobody wants the fun police, but you'd hope that Lottoland security or ground management would look out for it in the future.
    • I wish they would take the whistles off the refs
  • Meh , no different to the phantom siren , Typical unoriginal Manly and not really a big deal . If a player can't tell the difference from a whistle being blown from the stands and one being blown from 6ft away there's something wrong with their ears .
    • Not really Wizard. It was very similar to the refs whistle and even the Manly fans around me were annoyed by it.
  • It was Zorba de hut caught with blowing the whistle
    • I blow of the whistle and they'd have to wheel out the oxygen tank for Zorba to suck on meatloaf style.

  • The person is obviously a dope and surely it would not be hard to find who it is on game day, with some extra security. Surely it cannot be Toovey calling for another investigation (into the coaching at Manly)...?

  • This is nothing unusual from Minsky. Didn't they use the light last year? They would turn on off a a light everytime goal kickers attempted to kick a goal. Bunch of wankers
