The lowdown after the weekend

At first glance, it looks like this weekend's matches all played out poorly for Parramatta.

We've slipped to 11th and we're now four points outside the eight. The longer you look at the table, even accounting for a four from four finish, you keep looking at the points differential and it doesn't make for any pleasant caluclations.

However, ever the optimist, there are some positives to come out of this weekend's footballs as well - purely from a possible finals point of view.

The biggest is the injury to Darren Lockyer. According to today's media reports Lockyer is an unlikely starter on Friday - which will obviously be a gigantic advantage to us. If we can't beat Brisbane without Lockyer we don't deserve to be anywhere near the finals (and obviously won't be). But hopefully we can record a strong win and it just might kickstart our revival. Here's hoping, anyway.

John Sutton's season-ending injury is going to make life very hard for the Bunnies. His loss is going to be a big blow for them and given their tough run home they still are up against it.

I was cheering for the Tigers, but looking at their draw - they're also no certainty to make the eight. Aside from playing us, they have Penrith, the Titans and Storm. You would tip them to lose to the Panthers and Titans, and it really just depends which Storm side turns up. They could very well finish the season on 28 points. Looking at all the sides ahead of us, I'm actually thinking the Tigers are the most likely to fall in a hole and could be the surprise drop-outs from the top eight. They have after all managed to do it the past two seasons!

  • If Smith and Moimoi are out against brisbane we are goners
  • Regarding the tiges, this is exactly the way I saw it yesterday. They are the most likely of loosing their next four.
Storm is the crucial match....at leichardt
  • I hope eagles will fall too. :)
  • Ditto!
  • I know this is probably being abit negative and pessimistic. But say it DID come to a point where our finals hopes rested on STorm beating tigers i am 150000000000000% sure that the storm would lose the game on purpose.
  • I hold out hope for one, and just one, more week that we can still scrape in. But we can't just roll out there with the same game plan and expect to be able to do it.

If DA is really the coach that many claim, we need to see something different in the game plan this week.

I can't remember a game this year where we have had any noticeable game plan or strategy - even as simply as bombing a vulnerable winger like we did to Vatuvei a couple of seasons ago.
  • I;m going up with the wife. Was hoping we wud be picking up some momentum by now ,looking at the play offs..As you say RV,lets get a win up there... wring a last drop from the towel of hope... give us another week of dreaming
  • 1Eyed I disagree. I think there is a better chance of Manly losing 1 home game and losing their two away games (Roosters, Dragons) to finnish on 28 and also a better hope is the Warriors losing one home game out of Knights & Broncos leaving them on 28. I say that because I think its more likely than the WT losing all 4 games l. Of course the other side to this is the Eels have to win all 4 of their games because 28 points will not cut it for us due to our PD.

And after watching the Roosters and Dragons yesterday I don't know if we can step it up to their level of intensity. Its purely mental attitude and desire but I just don't know after our last two games. I hope the boys get some mongrel intent this weekend.
  • We will make the playoffs.... The Chosen One promised me!!!!
  • The tigers have a history of winning and losing in streaks they aren't a side that wins 2 or 3 than loses 1 they tend to win 5 or 6 and lose 4 or 5

But nah if Galvin comes to Parra this year, Brown will be gone."
