Since the beginning of this season - and in fact even before that, the negativity of so many fans is incomprehensible.
I do not think ONE player in our squad has not been derided or death ridden to some extent from the growing number of Negative Nellies who are intent on seeing this team LOSE.
1Eyed Eels is THE premier supporters site for the Eels but where is the support for our team.
Fortunately there are a diminishing few who believe in the coach and the team but they are fighting an uphill battle to maintain any semblance of balance against the rising tide of LOSERS who constantly preach their messages of Doom and Gloom.
It is way past time for these negative personalities to be reminded of the Power of the Supporters.
As long as the team sees the supporters are EXPECTING a loss on every minor situation they will (unintentionally) play to satisfy their fans.
Now I know the first to laugh at this blog as just another rant from a senile old man will be the same negative clowns who are NOT happy with ANYTHING relating to the team there will be a few who know exactly what I am saying here.
YOU - the SUPPORTERS - are the ones who CAN nfluence the attitude of the team.
As long as the team sees YOU berating their every effort - berating the team for NOT being able to win at one stadium or another then this does slowly erode the teams Will to WIN.
Try thinking of your own situation - if you have an employer who constantly derides your efforts regardless of how hard you try, then eventually you WILL stop trying to please them.
The same principle applies to the team - as long as the (now) MAJORITY of fans continue to express their dissatisfaction in the team and individual players then they will give you what you continually scream for - NEGATIVE results.
It is time to wake up fools and see the massive positives this team has produced over the past season and into this season.
There are occasions where the team (and possibly the coach) should be taken to task for their failures - but to continually death ride each and every member just for the sake of trying to drag everyone down to your own pathetic depressed state of mind is ridiculous.
WAKE UP CLOWNS AND START SMELLING THE SUCCESS - not this continued miserable perception of your OWN failures.
"If you think you CAN, or you think you CAN'T - then either way you WILL be right." (quote from Henry Ford I believe.)

I plead GUILTY your Col

I plead GUILTY your Col
But I don't care !!!
This is my 40th year as an Fan. I'm still here since 1975 and will still be here before my last breath.
BUT.......c'mon Parra, you gotta EARN IT
To be perfectly blunt, Parramatta has been an embarrassment, on the field and off the field for 5 years (and that is being kind).
You gotta EARN IT on the field
You gotta EARN IT off the field
Start WINNING and I'll start cheering, more....alot more
As you see the same mistakes OVER and OVER again - it's hard not to be sceptical.
I want Parra to WIN - I really do.
This Team LOST ME after the Manly win last year - I thought - that's it, Parra have finally turned the corner - down 12-0 at half time and play the game of the year and a total must win situation - only to fall off the face of the earth - esp against the lowly Raiders - didn't even put up a fight.
That was the LAST STRAW (for me)
Sure, they are attempting a rebuild now - hip hip hooray....another one
Sue me for being sceptical when the whole club has been a shambles for years.
Start WINNING more than 1 game in a row.
Start tackling
Start WINNING away from home.
Start WINNING MUST WINS and don't fold your tent like we did against the Raiders and Knights last year (an ALL TIME LOW IMO)
I couldn't give a crap sideways what other fans think about how I support (or not) MY TEAM
Be a crap club and I'll BOO all day long
Start WINNING and I'll clap and cheer.
Parra have ONLY themselves to blame, not the fans to blame
We are ALL still here, after all
Great response tele 1 BUT - you are one of the few positives on here.
You tell it like it is - that is fine - it is the guys who continually find Doom and Gloom at every turn.
I too have savagely bagged the team, coach and ball boy when I could see criticism was warranted (in my expert couch coaching role).
I fully agree the team MUST EARN our respect - and imo they have started doing this - just need to go on with the job.
This blog is aimed squarely at the "supporters" who CANNOT, or WILL NOT, accept the team and club are taking steps forward.
Quite some number of years ago I completely stopped following the Eels because their was NO joy in watching them either being destroyed from within or destroying themselves.
Yell, scream and holler for improvement, but FFS, to completely write them off EVERY time is getting a bit much.
I expect my team to go out there to WIN - they have shown they are capable of winning against the best - but I will NOT make excuse PRIOR to the game even starting just because it is NOT being played at a stadium I do not like.
Captain Morgan posted out stats at ANZ and under BA we have won there - this is not the team or coaches we had 2010 - 2013.
It is a new day tele - PMA should never be confused with the PMS so many show on here.
Carloeel and Macybrown you are NOT included in the above. (wonder if I saved my butt with that disclaimer?)
I think there are a heap people here that are not actually eels fans and just want to stir the pot. That will make up a bigger percentage of these doom and gloomers than you may think. I have a mate at work who is a dogs fan and he's been a member of the dragons forum for over 5 years now. Just says a quick well done, or nothing at all, when they win but lays the boot in every single small opportunity he gets. Sound familiar?
Very familiar FME.
Therein lies the secret Mick.
We are too busy looking at the past and the failures of previous coaches and team.
I read somewhere we have only THREE players in our current squad from the SK / RS days.
Why can't we be there at the end of season?
they are as follows:
1. Players -are they competing to the best of their ability?
2. Coaches -are you selecting players in form and worthy of selection?
3. Club -are you signing appropriate players, managing the salary cap and communicating with fans?
I will never put my club or the players down. However, if the club wanes on the 3 points above, I am not as inclined to part with my hard earned.
Well said 60s
I'm with you and Drop Bear Sir Col I am also a 50 year supporter of Parra and still think we can win every game we play, if these so called supporters keep thinking we are going to lose every time we play why don't they just piss off and pretend to support another team
Isn't it amazing that it is the long term supporters that have the most belief in the team?
Go you good thing.
I have been around for so long I cannot remember exactly what year I started following the Eels.
Sometime around early / mid 1950s
What I do remember though is that it was at Leichhardt oval when I was at Primary school
