Hi Eels fans,
As most of you would know, I am leading an effort to force an EGM in order for the board to be replaced by a new group of directors who would be selected on merit.
During this process, in less than a week, I have met, spoken or had direct email correspondence with over 200 people. Many have asked how they can help. My answer is always 'get more people to sign'
In almost all cases, the response is that they know heaps of fans, but few are members of the Leagues Club, therefore they cannot participate in this process.
What I say to those people is simple - join. The Club has a special on at the moment, $40 for 10 years of membership. That means, even if you hardly ever go to the place, in the next 10 years you can vote in four elections for the princely sum of $4 per year. It really is a no brainer for people who feel as passionately as the Eels as they say they do.
If you are a ticketed member, you probably go to the club before or after games, park close by or walk past the doors. When you are there for the Roosters game on Friday the 8th of July, walk in pay your $40 and go to the game knowing that soon, you can make a bigger difference for Parramatta.
If you aren't a ticketed member and don't go to games but you support the team, I am sure that when the new stadium is built you will want to go and check it out watching the Eels. To do so, you will probably walk past the Leagues Club doors. That is 2.5 years away. Join now, plan for the future and have a say in our great club.
Only the grass roots members can destroy the factions and make sure the best possible candidates are appointed to the positions that matter.
Join the Leagues club, participate in the running of your football team and have a say. It is our duty.

I'll go one further. Here's a link to the membership form:

All I did was fill it out and then left it in my car until I was next driving past or near the Leagues Club, then it was an easy process of going in and signing up.
I just wish the 3 year wait didn't feel so long!!
On a side note - is the 3 year wait before getting voting rights to a member run club typical? It seems excessively long.
I don't have an issue with the three-years. Any less and it makes it too easy to effectively buy a bunch of memberships for the next election.
Thanks for posting this Chris. In fact, I'd even go a step further and say take your partner and your mum and dad with you and sign them up too.
As we've seen, we're never guaranteed constitutional reform and ultimately in any reform process, the Leagues Club as a funding entity, Leagues Club elections will always have a major say in the running of the Eels, and its critical you have a voice in that process, and the louder you can make that voice the better.
Lol. Nice theory, except Larissa is in charge of Eels memberships and you now need to be a Leagues Club member to have a vote!
- can we join online?
- can we vote online or via post?
- do we have to wait 3 yrs to vote?
no
no
yes
Pretty sure Phil and others are running the constitutional reform platform to also address postal voting.
Ridiculous that it hasn't been addressed before now.
