The Greatest and easiest Diet..EVER!!!

This isn't a footy blog ,but some important information for many members.I recently was diagnosed with the scourge of modern life,Type 2 Diabetes.Like many,I didn't even know what that was.Basically I am insulin intolerant.Insulin is there to help shift sugar from your cells.Once insulin receptors on your cells get overloaded with sugar ,they stop receiving insulin,so your pancreas keeps making more and more insulin.Insulin is also the fat storing hormone,so you start to build up sub-cutaneous fat ie blubber, but more damaging you build up fat around your organs. It is called VAT,Visceral Adipose Tissue, and it is deadly.Even if your're not fat, most of us have dangerous levels of VAT.

After decades of the modern diet, blood tests showed that my blood sugar was 19.5,the norm should be 3.5 -7.I was constantly thirsty and peeing all night. After the bad news came the solution.Remove ALL SUGAR and COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES,plus STARCHES from my diet.

My dietician put me on the KETOGENIC DIET. What this diet does is to convert your body from running on glucose ie sugar, and instead run on fat, something which we have in abundance. The results after 4 weeks? I have lost nearly 12 kg and along with medication,Metformin my blood sugar is between 4.5 and 5.5.Well down from a month ago of 19.5.People,I can't stress this enough,SUGAR IS TOXIC.

So what is forbidden in this diet? NO SUGAR,This includes the hidden sugars in all processed foods and the insidious LO-FAT foods,no bread of any kind,no pasta,no rice,no bananas, little or no fruit,no potatoes, basically if your food comes out of a box,or via KFC and MACCAS it is verboten. No Soft drinks,no alcohol,no fruit juice,no smoothies etc,Even though they are portrayed as healthy they have more sugar than a bottle of Coke..As a wog ,it killed me at first to give up bread,in Greek culture our cutlery etiquette consists of a piece of bread in the left hand and a fork in the right.Giving up sugar and bread ended up being surprisingly easy.If I did it ,anyone can.

Now for the GOOD news. What can you eat? Chicken with the skin on.Meat with fat, bacon, all the eggs fried in butter or olive oil you want, fish, greens, avocados, vegetables (no potatoes, yams, sweet potato) and cheese, plus full fat Greek yoghurt. There is no portion size.Eat as much as you want, your appetite will decrease by itself in time. You can fry foods either in olive oil or virgin coconut oil.Avoid all other vegetable oils. They send your glucose and insulin levels sky high.Have all the butter you want,DEFINITELY NO MARGARINE! You must eat a lot of fat,it fuels your body and forces your metabolism to burn fat.

Look up the diet on youtube and see all the videos about the danger of Sugar, the stuff is truly frightening.Even if you just want to cut up in the gym,the Ketogenic diet is great. As for myself,I have months of weight loss to get back into the peak shape of the my weightlifting days 30 years ago,but I can testify that a mate of mine has been on this no-carb and sugar free diet for two years and he is half the man he was.I sleep like a baby and have not gotten up once in the night to pee.

If you are like me,I have avoided doctors out of the silly belief that they will only give me bad news.Well I got stung ,big time! The upshot? My doctor is unbelievable hot,and I have finally started to shift the blubber that many diets and hours in the gym failed to do. The lady at the Lunch Shop at work also started this diet, though not as strictly as me,and she is down nearly 6 kilos in 3 weeks.

I hope this blog motivates a lot of people to explore this diet. You won't regret it.

  • Great work Tom. That's amazing.
Have you seen 'That sugar movie'? It's really good and speaks of all the hidden sugars in our modern diet. There's no secret why society is becoming more obese, it's the large amounts of hidden sugars in food that we just don't need or realise is doing is harm.
Well done or your commitment to your health. Keep up the great work.
    • I saw that movie and Jamie Oliver's doco also.I was horrified at the sight of a six year old kid having ALL his teeth yanked out,due to sugar.

  • That's diet is probably going to be far to difficult for the average person.  I would just cut sugars by avoiding soft drinks, cakes and pastries,no added sugar to coffee or tea, limit take away foods, biscuits  ect.

    Bread are fine.

Most cerials have 5x the amounts of sugars than bread, with weet bix or oats the best choices.
    • Chief, trust me,this diet is a doddle, anyone can do it.As for bread,it is a complex carbohydrate,it has an extra molecule than sugar and your body converts it to sugar in double-quick time.

  • Outstanding blog Tom, thanks for taking the time to express what you've gone through, its really got me thinking, thanks and great work to you, I'm impressed you've taken it on so positively and are looking at the bright side, and that list of things you can eat look pretty good too.

Stick with it and looking forward to hearing more results.

I read some stuff from Peter Fitzsimmons a while back, he lost a huge amount of weight giving up sugar, swears blind its poison and he's never felt better off it, mirroring your experience and thoughts here.

What about Coke Zero? is artificial sweeteners ok?

    • Since giving up sugar my energy levels have gone through the roof.that is also due to finally getting a decent night's sleep again.I asked the dietician about coke zero and artificial sweeteners such as Stevia and Equal. He said, while they have no calories, they still stimulate the same parts of the brain that sugar, alcohol, tobacco and narcotics do.They still block the "I'm Full" message that your brain uses to cut your cravings.I used to drink tons of Coke Zero thinking it was harmless, but I just stopped cold turkey'After my internet research I learned about the adrenal glands. They sit above your kidneys and amongst their functions, they release cortisol during periods of stress.lack of sleep, and intense exertion which sends messages to your brain to store energy,ie fat and stimulates hunger.

I deliberately have tried to stay calm, even when in traffic and idiots usually push my buttons on the road.I just feel calm and relaxed these last few weeks.

    • Thanks for the great advice & keep up the good work
    • Artificial sweeteners are worse because they're man made or processed. Too much sugar for you is obviously not good but at least it's a natural product so your body knows how to break it down (in moderation). Anything you put in your body that's processed or man made are the killers because it's completely foreign to your body and extremely difficult to break down. Food intake is one of the biggest repellers of cancer. Natural and organic food wins every time. Sugars just feed cancer cells and mad made and processed foods are some of the biggest Cancer triggers out there!!
    • Artificial sweeteners are not good(Aspartame 951) is a known neurotoxin and long term exposure is thought to be a contributer to diseases like MS,Alzheimer's,Parkinson's,brain tumors along with side effects like dizziness, anxiety, insomnia, seizures, headaches and weight gain plus many others. Generally any ingredient that starts or ends with a number is a chemical that human beings shouldn't be consuming. We really have to pay attention to what we're consuming these days because I believe the shit "they're" feeding us is responsible for the high rate of chronic disease, cancer etc
  • This would mean id have to give up red frogs, thats massive
