Tomorrow, 1st February 2019, presages the coming end of 2018--2019 preseason. Thank Christ for that! And thank anyone else or anything else that brought this about. Today`s Sydney Morning Herald is full of interesting articles in the sporting section. I know that the SMH is infra dig to most on this site but suck it and see. The first article--"Powerful new regime to tackle match-fixing, cheating." Is about the Federal Government initiative to monitor virtually all sports in regard to drugs and match-fixing and corruption in general. The NRL is mentioned as one of the chief organization to be monitored by this new initiative. It is perverse that a so-called private enterprise Government is introducing a socialist system to control corruption in sport. Of course, there is an election coming on and I expect that after the election the proposed system will die of neglect. If it does come to pass, it will be interesting how it will detect and control corruption in the referee ranks of the NRL---if such corruption exists. Match-fixing is one of this new systems priorities. I take it that the NRL`s CEO will out of the loop of this system, as he should be, but time will tell Will anything change? Very little, I believe but there is much to improve.
Another article is " Sprung Racing" dealing with the arrest of the trainer of the wonder that is Winx! Darren Weir has been arrested as raid finds jigger! Also Police to probe alleged irregular betting. There are two full pages on this matter, Too much to go into here. One well-known member on this site who altogether has too much to say on any subject proclaimed that how privileged he was to be able to see (on TV! )Winx winning a race in the spring. He claimed, of course, that Winx was the best horse in Australia and in the world! How many jiggers have been applied to Winx? How many drugs? If any? That trainer has had form in the past. The odd thing is that none of the racing administrations have come up with what the police have found. I said at the time that it was philistine to emote about a nag that in due course will be cut for dogs food. How right I was.
Another article deals with fact that there are three applicants for the Cronulla coaching job. Surprise, surprise there is no mention of Brad Arthur being interviewed for the job. We had it on good authority (sic} that the job was Arthurs for the taking. I am disappointed in this because the Eels would have a new coach and his payout would have been minimal. The moral of this story is never put your trust in Princes or politicians or in people with good authority!
Another article Says " I wanted Norman at the Dragons says, Hunt " Hunt and Norman were teammates at the Broncos. The article indicates that Saints were keen to get Norman. Good luck Saints and good luck Cory
The last article says " George Burgess to test market ." This is a bit surprising because GB rejected the Eels offer. The article claims that the Eels were very confident that Burgess would sign with them! I wonder why he would sign for a wooden spoon club with a dubious record? He could not have been reading the TCT where everything in the garden is rosy. Perhaps he did read it and it turned him off as anyone with any nouse would.

robert you should get your facts right winx is not trained by darren weir he is trained by chris waller . Not everything you read is fact .
Simmo: You are right I have got that hopelessly wrong . My apology. I am not a racing follower these days but sometimes read the headlines but got this wrong. Thanks for alerting me. In trying to reply to you I noticed someone said a horse trained by Chris Waller was found to have a drug in its system. But that is not my assertion.
And if you think winx will end up dog food,
you have got no idea

You're referencing a story from 2005? Seriously Grunta, get the latest & current news before you bag the best horse in the world, mate!! - Unbelievably, I'm on Fong's side here, & Poppa's.
Wow! did the bad man just attack your favouriye past time?, what a small man you are, so small you are barely visible. Just have a look at the nasty vicious slandering of me by you for posting something that goes against your dribble. If i was a small man like you i would have you banned for such comments but i am bigger than you so i'll just sit back and let you continue to show everyone what kind of low life small person you are.
Wrong you fool, the ice issue you are reffering to was for a different trainer, i suggest you go back and read the article again and try not to miss the part about Waller being fined $30k for other doping issues.
HKF the trainer is responsible to have his horse fit and drug free on race day , hence the fine if you touch or handle drugs and then put a bridle on a horse you transfer any drugs residue that was on your hands into the horses mouth thats why it shows in their system, thats how serious about test in stables , i have never used drugs and may be watching to many movies but you see them when they snort it they sometime wipe it in their mouth well little bits get left on their hands, (correct me if i am wrong on that )
Poppa you dribbler you responded to Fong, not to Grunta. Meds time!!
Hahaha
