In 2010 a season after our glorious GF run, in games that ended in less than a 6 point or less difference we won 3 lost 5 missing the finals for 4 points.
In 2011, we lost 8!!!! won 3 missing the finals by 12 points.
This season we stand at won 5, lost one. Hence we are in the top 8.
It goes for any sport that most close games are won by good teams who have strong spirit.
I think anyone would prefer winning ugly than losing pretty.
I don't think it comes down to luck either, you make your luck and take your chances. We always seem to have someone that makes something happen out of the blue. We now have several match winners in our ranks like Guth, French, Semi, Mitch, Corey and Jenko. Just like the great Parra back line of the 80's with the Guru, Ella, the Crow, Kenny and Sterling would magically pull something out of their ass and usually it was gold.
Just look at what Kenny did to the Saints with the season looking gone. One dummy was enough to draw in 4 defenders and put Grothe in the corner.

Such a valid point - "most close games are won by good teams who have strong spirit"

We actually released a media statement with his contractual details signing off by saying how much of an astute purchase we'd made only to almost unbeleivably realising he had reneged out of the deal a few days later.
