The David Riccio Articles

I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever read a series of articles like these. What an innovation from a number of perspectives.Firstly, this seems to be indicative of the new level of professionalism and innovation at the Eels. For the cost of a journalist's time and expenses, the club is able to professionally document their excursion to the United States as well as generate incredibly positive exposure at a time when the Hayne departure could have done the opposite. It has also occurred at the same time as membership renewals have been called for, which is great evidence of the new thinking at Parramatta.Secondly, the Daily Telegraph knows that Rugby League is in its quiet time. This has been a tremendous method of retaining or increasing its readership from the huge fan base that is the Parramatta Eels. It has also fostered a positive relationship between the players and club with a leading journalist. Finally, the NRL would be pleased with the good news stories and publicity coming from such a trip. It's a far better alternative to the usual off-season player capers that the NRL has to navigate every year.Congratulations Parramatta. Not only an innovative trip for the players. It's no doubt set the bench mark for other clubs for how the media can be utilised for everyone's benefit.

  • Its a very smart move by the eels.....for the simple cost of a plane ticket and accommodation; the eels have brought hundreds of thousands of dollars in good publicity and media coverage. I like the way the club is going, there is some smart people finally in the office who realise that to be a successful NRL team is NOT just about winning games, its about selling the brand...as it is with every business. A BIG well done to Scott and Steve and the rest of the administration team

  • I think we will have a good year (2015) and increase our achievements across the board (financially, boardroom and the park). Who ever's idea this is, it is certainly a major plus for the club (Parramatta Eels brand).

I think this new CEO is a major recruitment and a blessing in disguise ( I know he has been here as CEO for a year).

I can't wait for the new season
    • Agreed. I can't speak highly enough of our new ceo! Very professional and not afraid to think of new ideas instead of just doing the same as everyother ceo. As for 2015 I expect us to miss the finals this year only just again but we will see a much more consistent team. No more 50 point flogging ect
  • Brax, you beat me by 13 secs. I didn't see your post till I posted mine but look how close they are in sentiment.
    • mate its good to see everybody can see this admin team we have in place has us heading in the right direction...FINALLY....now we just need them to stay in place

    • once I move back to NSW at xmas, I'll be getting my membership sorted out

  • Well said sixtiesboy! Although these are "paid" articles as such the positivity coming out of this is massive for the fans and how others see is in the league and wider community. This will do wonders for the players and i cant see how this won't result in better onfield performances in 2015.
  • they would want to be good articles since the club is paying his and his photographers expenses.

  • Cost vs return. This has turned into one of the smartest decisions made by the club. The trip itself as a learning and bonding/getting to know eac other exercise is one aspect. The media exposure was the component that I didn't see coming. When you see something not previously done, and it works, you have to stand and applaud.
    • it was a bit of a well of coarse the articles are going to be positive because we paid their costs.

Agree it will be worth every cent. the articles so far have been outstanding.

Prof. Daz replied to Roy tannous's discussion Can Pezet leave already
"Pezet had 3 runs, 5 kicks, 2 errors, and 3 try assists. Let's be frank, two of his try assists were fluke kick/regather efforts by others and his try a fluke kick/regather by himself. Ryles played possum about what he has to work on in the press…"
