The Cap

I'm not one to sit there and say "well if we are cheating the cap everyone is" but seriously that has got me thinking how in the world would Parra of been over the cap in the past 5 years? We had one guy of the name of Jarryd Hayne and THAT'S IT. Parra has been the laughing stock of the NRL for the past 5 years we had one representative player. The board members must of been paying some RIDICULOUS money to some very very average players. We had a shit coach named Kearney who was buying blokes like Darcy Lussick on 550k Sandow 500k Daniel Harrison 450k these blokes were flat out making their past clubs before they came to Parra and we were throwing good coin at these blokes, WHAT WAS THE CLUB THINKING......?

That leads me to Ricky, yes he did the right thing by cleaning all of those idiots out who were dreadful players but then he pissed off and left us in 750k debt to pay other players for the past 2-3 years who weren't even at the club. We had to go buy new players to fill those positions.

All of this has got me thinking, how would Parra be over the cap back then yet you had the roosters in 2013 with a team like this

 Mini

RTS (small contract) but played for NZ

 SKD NZ

 Jenko AUS / NSW

 Tupou Aus / NSW

 Maloney NSW  (at the time)

 Pierce NSW

 JWH NZ

 Friend

 Moa NZ

 SBW NZ

 Cordner NSW

 Guerra Qld

 Frank Paul NZ

How in the world would that team be under the cap and yet we be over? Compare the players they had to what we did in 2013 how is that fair?

Not to mention in 2014 go out and sign Blake Ferguson who was yes coming back after his sacking from the NRL but he was still a SOO player in 2013 and they signed him on bugger all money.

Yet when we tried to sign Folau NOPE Parra can't sign him on a little contract.

Melbourne in 2016

Slater

Smith

Cronk

Bromich

Proctor

Harris

Chambers

They are all internationals

Yet Parra are STILL over the cap with our 3 "rep" players Scott, Foran, Jenko and recently Semi and Manu who now make it 5

Broncos in 2016 have

Boyd

Kahu

Reed

Thaiday

Parker

Blair

Gillett

Glenn

Hunt

McGuire

Nikormima

All of they guys are internationals or SOO players.

Not to mention Milford who signed on 450k a year or Roberts and Mccullough

I know a few ex bronco players E.G Shaun Berrigan and he said the bronx rip the cap by buying houses or the players.

This is where the game is not "fair" Third party deals are absolutely fucking our game in the ass, IMO there should be no third party deals, each team gets their 6mil or whatever it is and that's it, spend it the way you want. Until every team in the NRL gets the EXACT SAME amount of money the comp won't be even. It blow's my mind that a wanker like Greenberg can openly come and say he think's the comp is even.

Like i said at the start I'm not one to have a shook because we got caught, it just pisses me off that other clubs are well and truly doing "something" to keep all of their STARS and the NRL don't even think to see how other clubs are using their cap.

  • The thing is, that a lot of people seem to forget, we were paying for a bunch of players that weren't even playing for us. So because of how much money was being spent on players out of team, we had very little left to not just field a good team, but a team at all. All of this lead down the lane of dodgy TPA deals to try and pull in players and still remain under the cap.

    • Yes this is a major difference between us and the Bulldogs and Storm, they did it to field a premiership team, we did it as you say, to field 17 players after Stuart brilliantly decided to cut everyone but continue to pay half their wages.
    • Other teams are cheats but they know how to cover it; article came out saying you must have rocks in your head if the cap can cover the Top 17
  • You can't have a static amount to pay players. That would be deemed a restraint of trade. In that case the NRL are restricting what a player could earn. I am pretty sure that has been tested and that's why TPA's exist today.

    • Not really mate because they cap goes up every year and if a club thinks you're only worth so much then that's how much you're worth unless another club thinks you're worth more.

Third party deals don't make the game fair mate, other clubs get more money from sponsorship then other clubs which means they get more money to spend on players.

    • If that's the case how come the NRL wouldn't let us sign Folau on $150,000 a year with a backend end deal because Shubert said he was worth more
  • Exactly, and I think this is the main point that is frustrating me the most. There has not been an ounce of coverage by media is this regard, explaining what has caused this to become such an issue. Yes, the board was useless and should not have broken the TPA rules and instead aimed to find alternative ways. But the fact is, being dubbed "World's dumbest cheats" by the media is ludicrous when the prime reason we cheated was in order to play the game with a team at all..

  • This sport run by such amateur that it's not funny. What sport stops teams bringing in sponsors and money into the sport? What sports runs its game based on the worse club in the league? What sports changes the rules to cause confusion beyond belief? What sport own management contradicts itself on rules and regulation? What's sport allows one team to have no disruptions as other teams struggle with 5 day turn arounds? It's is embarrassing that we can't even pay these emerging South Pacific nations yet allocate so much money to established teams like Australia, New Zealand & England. Who allows opposition sports to waltz in and take over the Rugby League areas without a fight? One sport Rugby League!!!!
  • You are 100% right Braeden

We are shop lifters, now being sentenced as bank robbers.

The Storm and Bullgrubs cheated to win a premiership,

    We cheated to become competitive.

Did you notice Greenturd stated Parramatta have been dysfunctional for the last 5 years, but the NRL found nothing about Spags and his boardmembers.

This was just a ruse by the NRL to destabilize our board and bring us down before we got out of their control.

Our board was stable and the club was really getting it's act together, { apart from organizing TPA's}.

All reporters echoing the NRL's claims without seeing any evidence.

Former disposed board members used by the media dumping on the club.

There might even be a Puppet master and Emperor leaking stuff to the media and NRL.

How much were we paying players at other clubs?

How much did we go over salary cap, grade by grade?

What did we archive in this time at the expense of other clubs?

This was an organized coup with many players and factions involved, make no mistake about it. It makes no difference what you thought of the 5 the NRL have targeted, they are only an excuse to attack and get control of Parramatta.

Greenbergs words, we are doing this for the members and fans.

    Doing what?

Getting us ridiculed from all other NRL team followers?

Getting us called cheats and being compared to storm and bulldog crud?

Getting us looking forward to the next few games?

Giving us hope we can still have a chance to play finals football?

    { Noticed that Greenturd did not say"WIN", only play.}

Yeh thanks Greenturd, your a true Kent.

That's better, one vent a day keeps the guns locked away. LOL Just joking about the guns.

PS Come the JUNE deadline, we will be officially dead for this year. Greenturd and his cronies will pull the rug out from under us for 2016 and add more crud to dump on us.

  • I think we are arguing different things champ. The above blog suggested that external forms of revenue be scrapped and that all teams have a fixed cap which is applied across all clubs. If that is the only source of income then the Players Association would contend that players are not able to earn their "market value" and thus would be a restraint of trade. Also, there would be a mass exodus to other codes who could pay way more than the NRL. Hence, this is why we have TPA'a and thus, the mess we have today. I agree that the game is not fair and some clubs have massive advantages but a static salary cap, alone, can not happen.

I believe the NRL's agenda is to cut teams in Sydney to possibly 4. Have 3 in Queensland, 2 in NZ and 1 in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. I'll wager, in the near future, the Salary Cap will be all but scrapped and the rich clubs will be given carte blanch. The NRL know that they can't just randomly cut clubs, there would be too much backlash. So they will let the poorer clubs whither and die naturally.
