  • Kent flagged this tonight . Benny " Wayne's inheritance " Ikin brushed passed it only briefly mentioning the Sydney teams disadvantage in securing TPAs .
  • The definition of level playing field means everyone plays by the same rules. TPA's are unlimited , as long as you abide by the rules.

So out of the $15m + TPA's (that are disclosed to the NRL, that they don't disclose to the public) for top line players, let's say $10m of those sponsor Broncos & Cowboys players & evidently bona-fide TPA's in the eyes of the NRL - it's ok. They are under the cap. No worries.

The players could attract another $10m & the clubs, by no fault of their own, have on board 18 test players & it's still ok if you follow the rules. Still perfectly fine.

Everyone has the same rules, which means, it's fair, right ?

    • Sure is, that's why the Broncos have started negotiations with Semi, Normy, and Peatsy.

      Makes perfect sense.

  • Haha is that all they have 10. Gees they are slipping.
Back in the day playing against the Broncos was harder than playing Australia.
  • And have made a sneaky enquiry about Forans current health.
    • It might be a first... a player wants to move interstate to be further away from his family (missus)

      • They'd have to move to QLD though, if the Broncos could fit them in.

"Australian Bananas" might be interested in providing bona-fide third party sponsoring for Semi, Normy, Mua & Jennings , on a new website wearing "Make your body Sing" tank tops, because they want to promote the "QUEENSLAND" family, eating bananas, filled with  International NRL stars ( no Broncos emblems will be used ).

  • Don't forget the Roosters on the TPA's.

They might be goin crap but it's not because off their shyness to sign representative players on TPA's. They have 7 in their starting side and are openly trying to sign both Hayne and $Bill Williams.

But hey, their $600K under the cap.

TPA's have turned the game into a joke (don't just blame the idiots running our club for the past six years) and has undermined the whole intention of the salary cap to spread the talent around! Rubbish! Ask Wests Tigers, Newcastle and Gold Coast how fair the salary cap is when Brisbane, Cowboys, Easts, Souths, Bulldogs and Parra have unlimited funds to pour into TPA's.

Anyway, I'm stickin solid with our coach and our footy team, regardless of the current mess. I like having a real team of goers to support.

  • Kent also mentioned tht it wld b unfair if current players took a pay cut to get under the cap - it this different to Coote rejecting a reported $200k pay cut from roosters to stay @ Cowboys?
    • BlacJac, don't think the players can take a pay cut, at this point, even if they wanted to. The NRL's blocked that one. Don't quote me on this , but I believe it's due to the precedent re the Dogs scandal post 2002. A good idea though.
