The best form of defense is attack

Here are some links to the great 2001 team. It took them 7 or 8 rounds to find their groove but once they did they were unstoppable.

I think that this year we have the team to replicate the 2001 achievements and yes we have a great defensive team but the best defense is attack. Out of the Cowboys, Broncos and Sharks I think that we have the most room for improvement. We are showing lots of potential but we are yet to even come close to our capabilities.

Watch and enjoy.

p.s. It's great to watch Hindmarsh when he was an attacking weapon, so fast and powerful, it's a real shame he was hit with such a massive defensive workload in the second half of his career.

  • Loved that year (bar the GF)... I think you'll find the eels had the best attack and best defence... Not only that they were way ahead of the 2nd best.. Pj marsh was brilliant ... Also Vella was a beast... Bella always ran on the burst and made 10-15m everytime... I do have that feeling about this team ... I have to tip my head of to Taylor though... He copped abit of flack for his defence in the tine before joining that year .. But he really help steer our ship then. I remember last GF (2015) Joey Johns and the other commentators were talking about how the Knights smashed the eels etc that GF and I remember thinking I think johns and co. Had too many pills that ducked up their memories ... They only best parra by 6 points..and had there been another 5m para would have won

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
