1.He can mentor mortimer & the keating bros if they are still around.
2. Create more space for our centres tahu & Reddy
3. Link up with Hayne to give him more opportunities similar to Matty Bowen.
4. Link up with a benny smith or shackleton on the edge of the ruck like a soward/creagh .
5. Provide an excellent short & long kicking game
6. Next captain after caylo.
7. Another marque player to market along with hayne & tahu
We will be losing alot of experience next year with caylo retiring & signing thurston might just be what we need

Look at how he performs in Origin and feeds off the talents in the QLD team. He would only improve his performance if he were to join the Eels and others around him too.
I'd much rather we sign him and lose guys like KK and Mateo who are prone to errors then retain them.
Can Thurston totally dominant a Grand Final though? Andrew Johns for example was a player the opposition couldn't beat many times (NSW & Newcastle) and had no idea on how to defeat such a team that included Johns. Lockyer is similar to Joey Johns, but Thurston is a distant third and I don't think that's enough to guarantee a premiership.
Sorry, but in saying that he would definitely improve Parra's chances.
For sure Caylo and Hindy are in their twilight year/s and this will free up some more money. What it doesn't answer is we are already low on back row stocks and these two guys will need replacing. There goes most of that money, unless of course we just build a team with a couple of super stars and pretty much bozos around them. That won't win us a premiership! Just like when Sterlo and Kenny were left in the late 80's and early 90's. They were both still legends but we had nobody of first grade standard to compliment them, thus we were hopeless. I'm pretty sure the media penned the phrase HAPLESS with us in mine. )-:
