The Ambiguity

The coach? The players? The squad?

On one hand, so many on here stating how shit and overrated many Eels players are. On the other hand, the same people will state that with such a good squad, Eels would win a premiership with a better coach.

How can the squad be so good if made up of so many shit players.

Personally, I don't think our squad is as great as many make out. It's ok, but not great. On paper, bottom half of top 8 is probably close to the mark in reality.

  • Forwardds- one of the best in competition (on paper)

    Spine - very good

    Outside backs - below average

    Coach - bad...

The issue is tactics being used with our team, we expend all our energy and effort at the start of the season being battering rams that come end of the season everyone is playing busted, the coach will make an excuse saying "everyone has some sort of niggle at this time of the season" like he said in today's pressor, but in all honesty the onus is on the coach and coaching staff to make sure these player are at 100% for every game. If a player is injured rest him until his fully fit. don't play him if his under done, reed mahoney is the perfect example of the incompetence of the coach this year. Start of the year he was one of the best players in the competition then he burned out because there was no listed substitute on the bench forcing him to play 80minutes busting his shoulder. He returned under done and was rushed in and now like our season his season is now over.

The move that really pissed me of this year, is the continual selection of his son when he wasn't nrl ready. We had players that cover his position  Ryan matterson, Bryce Cartwright, will Smith all have played in the halves and wouldn't of been such a defensive liability. Players that were in form such as Bryce Cartwright who was one of our best players earlier in the year was left out of the team for one error(kicking the ball early in the manly game) yet his son was continuously picked after numerous defensive and attacking errors. I don't blame the kid, I hope he becomes an nrl legend. But his selection was not warranted this year or time of his career. If he was selected for his kicking game that was also the wrong move. Dylan should've been given the keys to the eels not Jake when mosses was out, Dylan should've been instructed to kick more with mahoney and gutherson taking some responsibility not Jake.

Big big mistakes by the coach this year. Previous years I supported him but this year he's lost me.
