The 2nd Try attempt rule?

Just wondering if i was the only one that hated the 2nd Try attempt Rule.
No fullback? penalty auto awards the try???? Cnt Kick the Ball???? Cant Score against the run of play?????

Just convert for two and forget that ever happened.

  • I think it was humourous at best. It wouldn't work in a 'real' game.
If the NRL all stars had taken their conversion attempts they may have won the game, but it seemed like they were more interested in the show than the result. I loved the attempts at the wall. It surprised me that Wayne Bennett would have a play like that in his coaching book.
  • a blast from the past for me
  • i dont mind the 2nd try attempt in them type of games but in the nrl no way cos nrl more serious
  • Should of tried a wedge like sterlo suggested. That would of been cool
  • yeah, i wasn't a fan.
  • Worthy of a trial in what is an exhibition game, but it would never be introduced into the normal competition.... well at least i pray it won't.
  • sorry but it was a very silly concept, no way should it be introduced to nrl comp .
  • Dumb concept. The maths dictates that it just won't work.

The average kicker will convert 50% of the time from out wide (I guess). You would automitcally take the 2 points from 10 metres either side of the posts.

So in effect you give up 1 to 1.5 points to take the 2nd try which means you need to score a try every 2.5 to 4 attempts to break even. This is just impossible. The defensive line is set and you have 1 tackle. My guess is you would see a try one in 12 attempts at best.
  • Hated it!
  • I reckon all it did was give the line marking bloke more to do painting those big white dots on the field. Like others have said, good for trials & exhibition games but no good for the real thing.

"If there is no Deal with Galvin we should at minimum be putting out rumours we are interested in Sandon to take away some leveage I.Moses has over us.
Sandon is a really skillfull player so I wouldnt be dissapointed if we signed him instead."

"He didn't say anything about the old regime technically.Do you really think he would say anything negative about Ryles if he thought it?  More likely he is trying to lift the team as we are last at the moment. I think he does like Ryles, seems a lot…"
