That is as good as we are ! Time to face facts

Its time to face the cold hard facts that we have our squad balance badly wrong and its going to hurt us big time this year !!

Firstly well done to Hayne who is our one true superstar.

As much as we all were excited about our big off season spending the facts are we bought an outside back where we had depth, a prop who is not better than what we have, and a second rower who was tragically hurt game 1.

This plus big contracts for the aging duo Hindy and Cayless where we only need one of the two.

Our issues are at half back and second row. Hindy now needs a zimmer frame to hit the line and whilst our side lacks any steel without him he needs more support than Oake and Horo.

Under pressure we have neither a kicking game or go forward.

I think on the first three games the signs are that we could well miss the 8 as we have no depth and whilst we all yell sack them sack them the best we have is a couple of untried QLD cup players Pele and Humble and a NYC side that has been blown off the park 2 weeks in a row.

Long season coming up Eels fans and I think we need to lay off and support because we are  in a world of troubl

  • Big call considerig it is only round 3, and the Tigers are a realistic chance of a top 4 finish,
  • Can't you read slaka ? These are cold hard FACTS. Just face them already !
  • Big call but our depth in key positions and lack of experience worries me big time. No chance of winning without Hayne during SOO
  • I am looking at the facts, so far we have been beaten by a robotic Dragons team (although we scored the same amount of tries), we beat Manly after trailing 20-0 and we were just beaten by the Tigers. It is hardly time to start slitting our rists. Although we have been rolled twice I have seen enough t suggest we will be competitive as the season rolls on. Morts and Burt were big losses considring how much they both back up our second phase play.
  • its a pathetic start to the season - facts are we arent good enough attitude wise and people need to stop making excuses for them - fire up or put someone else in who will have a dig
  • Golling, I think you make some valid points. There are a couple of possibilities that can turn this around for us.

    1. Our halves can get much better. Once we settle on our halves I think only then are they going to get the opportunity to show what they're capable of. I've never, ever seen a team be successful where the half back is chopped and changed.

    2. A number of our players can be much better. Mateo, Poore, Hindmarsh, Mortimer. They all have massive improvement in them. If they can lift their games it will take pressure off Hayne.

    3. The attitude is just not there. Forgive me, I can't recall who said last week, would it have been better if we had lost last week. He got pummelled for it, but his suggestion that it would cause us to think we could just win any game from anywhere is looking pretty damn insightful this week, because that was how we played. Even when we were behind, we dropped intensity again when we started our fightback because it just looked like they thought it would all happen for them again. It's quite incredible!
  • its quite incredible that a team thinks they can win a game when at half time they almost make twice as many tackles as the opposition. What are they 12 years old? Shocking attitude and tonight of all nights was a shameful display, especially when all the inspiration they needed was printed on the jerseys they were wearing.
  • That would be I.

And you're not wrong. The boys attitude tonight was very ordinary, but I'm confident will improve.
  • No premiership this year , such high hopes Piss poor attitude
  • Does noone remember 2009? We not only were on the bottom of the table, our club off field was turned upside down. the first half of the season was a complete mess. Then we clicked and went on to make the GrandFinal.

This must be the first year for some of you to support Parramatta, Cause anyone who has supported them for years knows that Parramatta ALWAYS starts slowly then clicks midseason. Just look at the 2009 team in two halves. rounds 1 - 13 then 14 - 26. Pretty much same team but performances completely different.

Write off the Eels now and they will only bounce back to embarrass you!
