Its time to face the cold hard facts that we have our squad balance badly wrong and its going to hurt us big time this year !!
Firstly well done to Hayne who is our one true superstar.
As much as we all were excited about our big off season spending the facts are we bought an outside back where we had depth, a prop who is not better than what we have, and a second rower who was tragically hurt game 1.
This plus big contracts for the aging duo Hindy and Cayless where we only need one of the two.
Our issues are at half back and second row. Hindy now needs a zimmer frame to hit the line and whilst our side lacks any steel without him he needs more support than Oake and Horo.
Under pressure we have neither a kicking game or go forward.
I think on the first three games the signs are that we could well miss the 8 as we have no depth and whilst we all yell sack them sack them the best we have is a couple of untried QLD cup players Pele and Humble and a NYC side that has been blown off the park 2 weeks in a row.
Long season coming up Eels fans and I think we need to lay off and support because we are in a world of troubl

1. Our halves can get much better. Once we settle on our halves I think only then are they going to get the opportunity to show what they're capable of. I've never, ever seen a team be successful where the half back is chopped and changed.
2. A number of our players can be much better. Mateo, Poore, Hindmarsh, Mortimer. They all have massive improvement in them. If they can lift their games it will take pressure off Hayne.
3. The attitude is just not there. Forgive me, I can't recall who said last week, would it have been better if we had lost last week. He got pummelled for it, but his suggestion that it would cause us to think we could just win any game from anywhere is looking pretty damn insightful this week, because that was how we played. Even when we were behind, we dropped intensity again when we started our fightback because it just looked like they thought it would all happen for them again. It's quite incredible!
And you're not wrong. The boys attitude tonight was very ordinary, but I'm confident will improve.
This must be the first year for some of you to support Parramatta, Cause anyone who has supported them for years knows that Parramatta ALWAYS starts slowly then clicks midseason. Just look at the 2009 team in two halves. rounds 1 - 13 then 14 - 26. Pretty much same team but performances completely different.
Write off the Eels now and they will only bounce back to embarrass you!
