Terepo play the ball

Now if a player plays the ball correctly and then falls forward from injury, concussion or orherwise causing no interference with the markers, causing no advantag/disadvantage to either team then there MUST still be a penalty against the attacking team. Such a strange call and against a team fighting hard to get back into a game. This decision is right up there with my biggest suspicions for the year along side Michael Jennings in the first South's game when his brother scored three ....

  • terrible decision by the ref but was consistent with the calls for the night

    • Maybe so but that one in particular was very suspicious indeed.... The rest "could" possibly be just terrible refereeing.
  • Was the first time we had any decent field position. What I also found strange, not blaming the refs for the loss etc.etc.but no replays on the TV of any of the first 3 penalties leading to the first try (which was at least 3 metres forward and inline with both linesman and ref) and no bunker for the first 2 tries. It must have been so hard for Sterlo to remain silent and impartial whilst witnessing such bullshite.
  • Friggin' brilliant, wasn't it!

Peni did everything possible to comply with "play the ball" requirements. His foot must have missed the ball by a pubic hairs' breadth!

  • The game’s a rort.

    • It's been a rort for years. I still wonder why I watch the game after 30+ years.

  • The strangest use of words ever spoken by a ref for me.  The exact words that came out of the refs mouth were “your not standing upright”. That was it. Nothing about being square or touching the ball with his foot at all. The use of words should be put into the referees book of shame. WTF WAS THAT I was ropable. How the fuk do you stand upright to play the ball. I tell you now that the opposition was NOT standing more upright than us at any time when playing the ball. Too many penalties in the nrl all year in general it’s turned into a penalty fest. More than half of all the games this year were not worth watching because of having two refs on the field with a whistle in their mouth and one in their arse.

  • It's the 1% ers that are the difference between well coached teams and badly coached teams. With the exception of a couple of players, most players are pretty close on ability. Jennings is an absolute prime example. He is in the twilight of a career and is looking for shortcuts. If he allowed to take these shortcuts - he will.
Terepo didn't play the ball properly. Taka should be docked pay - so bad was his decision to stand offside.
It is all the result of ill discipline, bad culture and poor coaching.
  • Exactly
  • The exact same thing happened today in the Sharks vs Knights game and there was no penalty.. talk about consistency
