TEPAI Moeroa is ready to ignore the big bucks on offer in Japanese rugby to recommit with Parramatta for a further two seasons.

Moeroa has is determined to go all the way in rugby league, including Origin and the Kangaroos, and knows his best chance of that is by playing his best good footy with his good mates at the Eels.

“There was interest in going overseas for rugby, but once I’ve accomplished what I want to do in rugby league, then I’ll maybe look at popping over to rugby,’’ Moeroa said.

“I wanted to stay at Parra, so it’s good to get it all sorted and get it done.’’

Moeroa, now 21, has been earmarked as a representative forward for a couple of seasons and is relishing the chance to make one of the back row spots his own.

There was plenty of interest from rival clubs in his signature, with Moeroa’s deal to be announced as early as next week. He returns from suspension against Canberra on Saturday night.

  • Good news Ricky. Although many are saying he has been inconsistent, his defense has been rock solid and will develop more strength with his running.
  • Great news. Irate him. we missed him last week

  • Great news!
  • Good on ya Tep!
  • He's only 21?? He's going to be a gun in the next few years.

  • What sort of journo wrote this!!! "and knows his best chance of that is by playing his best good footy" WTF!!! Ir is the Telecrap though!!
  • As Brissy said mate it's his age. I honestly thought he was mid 20's and therefore we'd probably seen his best. But at 21 he has heaps of improvement left in him.

    • Agree he has improvement in him Mutt; and I think Cordner who is a v good player, has hit his mark in last few years tbh and he also has had some good time in 1st grade.

Think Tep would have played about half the amount of games, so there is enough time for him to hit his straps.

  • I think Tep could be our future captain and an Australian and Origin representative. Great signing and shows he is committed to the club, turning back more money from elsewhere to stay.
    • The reason I see Tep as a future captain is the fact he signed to stay for less than he can get elsewhere and the abilities he has shown at such a young age. His first season was his best and last season once he got over his shoulder injury towards the end and got moved out wide he was showing his potential. I believe he is better out wide and is only going to get better. I'm no expert but I see him playing Origin and for Australia if he stays out wide and keeps developing the way he has. Just my opinion though.
