When you watch that video clip, when he had that speed and agility and you witness the attacking prowress he had the previous 2 years you wonder how we allowed him to pack on up to 10 kilos in the last off-season and become the slug he is now in comparison. It's just tragic!
With a bung shoulder you can fix with an opp but we just can't waste the talent this young warrior has by saddling him with extra bulk and placing him in the middle to bash the ball up and be bashed up in return.
This guy is too much of a talent to not use his skills where it's obvious he could be a champion.

I agree mate! I'd like to see him cut a few kg 10-5 and see him get his agility back
You are aware that as you age you bulk up?2 years ago he was 17,now he is filling out to his man body. The bloke ,if he stays fit will be a real weapon at whatever bodyweight he plays at.Skin-fold tests measure body fat to weight ratio,so if he is passing the pinch tests,he is a-ok.
Some thoughts to consider.
Firstly his injury. He's not been comfortable but he's not been injured enough to stop playing. It has been a year of learning to play tough. This will stand him in good stead for the future.
Secondly, he's young and had a faster introduction to the NRL than many other forwards. The second year can be difficult for some. He's probably no different and yet he's held his spot in the run on team. I agree that he has moments of concentration lapses. Age and experience is a factor still.
Finally, his size. How much is his increased bulk natural and how much due to planning? I can't answer that, but he was always bigger than others in the junior ranks so you'd assume he is continuing to fill out.
The present - he just had one of his stronger performances against the Titans. Ran with real purpose. Lots of energy.
The future - he will be more of a middle forward. That doesn't mean that he can't hit the line hard or on the edge of the ruck. He'll begin next year with a rested shoulder and another year of NRL behind him. He'll go well.
"I think if we end up with Barnett we won't re-up JDB.
i love the idea of having Barnett and Morettti, Paulo and Tuivaiti, and Williams with Hopgood as our options. By all reports and trial form Brown, and Doorey look set for first grade roles too…"
"We can't send Lomax anywhere he has to want to go on his own volition.
Hes free to negotiate with any team in the nrl that has the cap space to have him on there roster then once that's established then we step in with our release conditions with…"

Man I hope he turns up!
How can you call a player overrated whilst they're playing with one shoulder?
Having said this, how can a player be overrated when no one takes about them?
