Teddy's Tumble.... Game changer.

Having watched the replay twice now in a more relaxed state, I am convinced that we are the real deal & just hope we can replicate that performance againt the Raiders to fill us all with true belief.

If we do, we won't lose many games this year

Basic individual errors (easily corrected) a referee that gives us a fair rub of the green (every 50/50 call went their way)

It felt like a 2019 game the amount of times Cummings allowed the Roosters to lay all over us in the ruck. I counted 6 occasions where a penalty should have been blown, but instead he called "milking" on our player... often in a dominant position trying to play the ball.

The Roosters completed at 90% had Cummings in their corner & kicked four penalty goals which inflated the score. A true measure is 3 trys to 2.

Which brings me to "Teddy's Tumble"

When Sivo steam rolled him to score, our players were absolutley pumped and the Roosters were absolutley under the pump! They were from the get go in the second half.

They were gassed and somewhat shell shocked that we had hit the lead after the way they had dominated the first 40mins.

We were on a roll, playing white hot and in the mood for more points. You could see the players knew they could win the game & had the Roosters rattled.

Tedesco's head knock & subsequent medical attention gave the Roosters an addidtioal 5 minutes to get the oxygen back in the lungs & reset.

Which is all a quality team like them needs to swing the tide back quickly & they did hitting straight back with a try. The "game changer"

I am confident even with those early indivdual errors and getting no favours from Cummings, that stoppage in play killed the massive roll we were on...think 2009 when teams just couldnt stop our off-loads and energy when we got in "that mood" I saw that at the start of the second half.

Play like that against the Raiders this week and the 2pts are already banked.

  • Hey Bert...

I agree bud....how good was that game????

Funnily enough I rewatched the game this arvo too. Far more relaxed and able to take things in with a more balanced view. Cummins was shithouse but not as bad as I first thought. Emotion and adrenaline can blur the vision and the senses. We did get around 5 six agains when in all honesty I thought we only got two.

I thought we were a lot better than that final score indicated. A far better difference would've been 6 points if that. We were all over them like a cheap suit with 20 to go - a decent stopppage in play, a missed tackle followed by 'that' sin bin and that was all she wrote.

I also got the impression that the roosters felt they were playing the real deal, you could see it in their body language, they looked fatigued at 10/8 and they were giving it their all. IMO we were only at 70/80% and we've got a heap to of improvement in us - they haven't. The Morris' won't play like this all year, forget it.
If we can eliminate those stupid penalties and brain dead dropped balls we are deadset certainties to lift that trophy.

    • Hey Tank

"Cummins was shithouse but not as bad as I first thought. Emotion and adrenaline can blur the vision and the senses"

I will watch it a thrid time mate and see if i can dip my rose coloured glasses a little!

Not just in our game, but all games these days... It's not how many penalties or 6 agains you get, but where and when you get them during the flow of the game.

I thought our repeats and penalties were not as adavantageous as theirs.... hence 4 penalities in kicking position = 8 pts.

Not many teams will kick 4 penalty goals in a game this year IMO.

    • Nice read Bert. It's good when we can marinate on an outcome for a couple of days before way make judgement.

Loving your positiveness too Frank.  Like you, I feel many positive things can be taken from that loss.

I thought Kaufusi was great and he's a must in the 17.

We are still the ladder leaders and if we overcome the Raiders, who have a lot to prove after their loss to Manly, we may remain on top all year.

Although we lost, I feel we weren't at our best and the Eels will have a belief that they can beat the Roosters next time they meet. Perhaps in the finals.

      • Kafusi is a must WMD.

It's time now that BA puts full faith and confidence in the kid and stops dropping him every second week.

He showed more than enough againts the two time premiers that he belongs in our top 17 each week.

  • I re watched it also, had a laugh at Jake friend, looked like he was nailed to the cross all night.

Super proud of the boys, definitely contenders, the NRL in general is better when Parramatta is playing like this.

        • My other half is 8 months pregnant, so I am smashing the piss, 3am netflix binges and sleep ins while I can, before the little man arrives. "game changer" hahah but jokes aside I am really enjoying the experience of becoming a dad for the first time.

  • Bert you legend :)

Mate I'm assuming you watched the replay down on Ipanema beach with the lads on your battery powered portable tele.

Spot on with your comments - I thought the stoppage following the Teddy hit was the worst thing for us as well. We were outstanding though - best Parra performance I've seen in years - can't wait to get another crack at them.

Hope you're well mate, hope this summer's tan is coming along nicely and life's being good to you.

    Cheers brother :))

    • Thanks K-man.

All good at my end mate, except for living in a country under the rule of a President who idolises & mimicks Trump..... hence why Covid is out of control here. The true numbers will never be known but consevative estimates are x 5

I'm doing it tough without the eye candy on the beaches everyday! ; ) My tan lines are not where I liked them to be.... maybe time to baste myself in some butter and hit the roof top of copacabana palace.

      Giddy up!

Hope life is treating you kind brother.

      • lol!

Just read your convo ,with Mick - congratulations mate - nice job! As Mick said- it's a life changer for you - trust me, when he arrives you will feel like your heart is gonna explode and that feeling will remain with you for the rest of your life.

This song's real corny but it perfectly sums it all up - well done mate - all the very best to you and your family :))
