Teams kicking to Ferguson?

Why on earth in the first 2 rounds have Penrith and the Dogs insisted on kicking  /  bombing Ferguson when on the other wing we have an inexperienced and untested winger in Sivo?

Ferguson is the best player in the comp atm! Blows my mind how dumb teams are.

Is it just stupidy or is there a weakness in Ferguson's game I don't know of? The Roosters surely can't be that stupid..

  • Because if they have a good kick chase then they hit Vin Diesal/XXX as soon as he hits the ground or at least have several players ready to tackle him before he gets into stride.

If they kick to Sivo then XXX takes the next hit up and hits the line at speed and makes good post contact metres and gets the set off to a good start with the defence back pedalling

    • Yeah that's what I thought. Hasn't been working for them though. Surely you'd want to test the inexperienced winger on the other side in the hope he'd lose the ball.

    • That was penriths tacttic which didn't work

pay is clueless and thought he would just use Penrith tactic

  • His only weakness used to be the high ball. I remember him knocking on 3 times in a game last year under high ball and when he caught the 4th one the whole crowd cheered.

  • It's a case of pick your poison.

You kick to Sivo, he might spill it, but if he doesn't then Fergo can kick off the back fence on the next hit up. The truth is kicking to Fergo is the least bad option for teams. Don't underestimate how terrified teams are of Fergo's kick returns. The tactic of kicking to him is to completely neutralise that threat.

But yes, they should've at least tested Sivo by now, will be interesting to see if the Chooks do or not.

  • The Roosters will at least know his game and I'm still baffled why they let him go. Ferguson had a cracker season last year. Are Cronk and Friend still out?

    • Roosters like to get rid of a player a year to early and bring through their bought juniors and inject new faces. They did get it wrong with him as he seems to be in his prime now but they probably got a young gun coming through next year so they didn’t want to sign him up 2/3 years

  • Because Every one knows not to give SIVO Room, After what i’ve seen of him i would not kick to him either , Penrith knew exactly what they were doing they took Sivo out of the game because they were well aware of him.

  • Oi.... Shut up mate, the other teams might be reading this!!!

  • It’s a very defensive play, it’s easier to get a good chase then have him make 10+m tackle 1 or 2, get a quick play the ball and have a jr Paulo than make 10-15m+ while they’re back peddling

i agree however that teams have been silly not to expose sivo
