Taylor tigers coach

Wests Tigers have today announced that Phil Moss will be joining the Club as General Manager of Football Operations, with Jason Taylor appointed as NRL Head Coach.

Moss will take on the newly created General Manager of Football Operations role, having most recently held a similar position at the Penrith Panthers. Moss also spent eight years at the Parramatta Eels with his most recent position as Chief Operating Officer.

Moss’ experience is extensive in the areas of salary cap management, development pathways, and welfare & education. Moss will oversee NRL, NYC & State Cup administration.

Jason Taylor has been NRL Assistant Coach at the Sydney Roosters for the past two seasons, and was an integral part of their premiership win in 2013. Having previously held NRL Head Coaching roles at both the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels, Taylor has shown a strong desire to develop talented youth, and has been exceptionally impressive in his aspirations to bring through the many young talented players at the Wests Tigers. Taylor is also a strong advocate for discipline and culture, saying that the Club has strong foundations that he can build on as NRL Head Coach.

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go said that the appointments were important steps for the Club as it looks to the 2015 season and well beyond

  • Tigers specials for top 8 next year.
    You heard it here first.
    • Unfortunately i agree tank. Taylor will get the best of of their young players.

    • Taylor to be knocked out by Laurie Lawrence 's ghost
  • Good for JT.. Probably deserved another head coach gig sooner, but the South's debacle did him no favours..
  • Hmmmm Tigers for the spoon in '15? LOL nah my GF would cut my testes off if I said that to her....

  • JT is very smart tactically but not sure about his man management skills, he will have learned from his time at Souths and i think will do well at the Tigers.

    • 100%. I'm not sure if the Tigers need this sort of coach just yet. They have a very young playing squad and I think for the next year and a bit they'd need someone who will kick their butts in training and will get them to do the basics right. After that has happened a coach like Taylor would be an almost perfect fit for this team.

I was an advocate for JT to join us but I think I was a little bit blinded by my Blue and Gold glasses and just saw what he did for us in 2006 and thought he could replicate that for us in 2014. As Al has pointed out he's very smart tactically but lacks in man management skills and we needed someone like BA who is a coach who will kick our team's butts and hopefully in time he can learn to be better strategically.

  • You could be right Frank, but I hope we improve to show we made the right decision when we got BA. If they beat us it will not look good and the ones who wanted Taylor instead of BA will be telling us told you so.

    • I don't care about this TBH. I just rate him as a coach.
I think that the Tigers have a lot of players with potential and he could be that coach that will be able to extract it.
As I said before, whack $100 on the Tigers for the 8 next year.
    • I will be one of those pesty people lol
