Tanginoa named in ISP Team of the Week

http://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2016/04/05/tanginoa_named_in_is.htmlTue 5th April, 01:00PMTanginoa-LEADDyldam Parramatta Eels forward Kelepi Tanginoa was this week named in the NSWRL.com.au Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team of the Week, the lone representative from the Wentworthville Magpies side. The Team of the Week is chosen by NSWRL.com.au as the best-performers of the previous round, with Tanginoa earning his second selection this season, after a strong performance in Wentworthville Magpies 26-14 victory over the New Zealand Warriors this weekend.“Kelepi started the season particularly well in Rounds 1&2. For our standards, he didn’t reach the heights in Rounds 3&4 but to his credit, he was again in the top echelon of players on the weekend,” Wenty Magpies Head Coach Joey Grima said.“I am really glad that he bounced back because he has worked hard, he wasn’t at his best in Round 3 and 4 but its really pleasing that he returned there on the weekend.”“We now need him to bring that form into the game against Mounties this week. I am so happy for him to be selected in the Team of the Week for the second time, and it was really because of his own actions on the field.” Grima addedClick here to read the Match Report from the Round Four win.Tanginoa was impressive in the Magpies forward pack, playing both in the front and back row, running more times (20) than anyone else in Round 5 and was also the only player to crack 200 running metres (201) in his 80 minute performance. Two offloads and 11 supports prove he was exceptional in providing continuous pressure on the Warriors defence, which eventually led the Magpies to victory."What Kelepi did particularly against such a sizeable and powerful New Zealand outfit, he really allowed us to change the momentum particularly when he went into the middle part of the field and moved into the front row," Grima said."He really relished that challenge and allowed Cameron King and Mitchell Cornish to play over the advantage line and that's really pleasing for him."Click here to see the full ISP Team of the Week. The Magpies have four wins after five rounds and will have a top of the table clash this weekend, taking on Mounties at Pirtek Stadium on Saturday 9 April, kick off at 12:40pm.The Round Six Intrust Super Premiership NSW is part of a triple header at Pirtek Stadium this Saturday, with the Eels NYC side taking on the Canberra Radiers at 10:40am before the NRL encounter at 3pm.

  • Anyone know how Alvaro and Obrein went?
  • Alvaro has a good game for Wenty and everyone demands he be promoted to 1st grade, Kelepi has arguably a better game and the only comment is asking how Alvaro went.

Ca someone tell me what I'm missing with this guy.

Not saying he is a bad player I could see him becoming a Mannah level player if he can avoid injuries or a big drop in development but more realistic would be a Gower or Wicks level prop.
    • thanks Dave
Only asked about Alvaro and Obrein because the article already told me about Kelepi
    • Wasn't really attacking you but a similar article was posted last week when Alvaro made the team if the week and a lot of people made comments about him being in 1st grade, Kelepi does the same and his performance gets basically ignored

I was just wondering why there is so much Alvaro love on this site
  • I think it will only take 1 or 2 more forward injuries before we see Kelepi in first grade. If the last 2 seasons injury tolls are anything to go by, he'll be in first grade before we know it.
  • Kelepi has more potential than Alvaro, always has. However, many perceive him to be more a backrower than a prop. I feel that Alvaro is being asked about because he is viewed as a prop. Kelepi can play either IMO, and has been in recent times for Wenty. I rate him ahead of Alvaro. Hopefully, he may get an opportunity as the Season progresses.
  • Alvaro played 1st grade
    Kelepi played 1st grade
    Alvaro performed
    Kelepi didn't.

Kelepi will never be first grade material. He's has enough time
