Tamou to leave the cowboys

Premiership-winning front-rower James Tamou will leave North Queensland for family reasons, his manager has confirmed.Tamou reportedly informed his Cowboys teammates of his decision to leave the NRL premiers on Thursday morning. The 27-year-old's manager Sam Ayoub was unable to confirm that discussion had taken place but said the decision to leave the Cowboys had been made. "He's made the decision to relocate his family to Sydney to have some extended family support around," Ayoub told AAP.Tamou and his wife Brittney are expecting their third child and it's understood the NSW and Australia representative has been agonising over the decision for weeks. Up to three clubs are believed to have tabled bids for Tamou, with Penrith the front-runners on the back of a lucrative four-year deal.Ayoub says nothing has been finalised at this point. "I'm working through with the interested parties here and I'll work through things over the next week or so," he said.Tamou's departure is the first setback for the Cowboys as they try to retain the squad which delivered the club's maiden premiership in 2015.Backs Lachlan Coote, Antonio Winterstein and Kane Linnett have all signed new deals in recent weeks. But grand final winners Ben Hannant, Justin O'Neill, Rory Kostjasyn and Ethan Lowe are all off contract.Tamou has made 157 NRL appearances for the Cowboys after his debut in 2009.The New Zealand-born prop has also made 12 State of Origin appearances for the Blues and featured in 12 Tests for the Kangaroos.*************************************************I know that penrith are supposed to already have this sorted but are we any chance to snare tamou? I think it would be massive along with another quality hooker signing. We could be back on track with our squad.

  • tamou to the eels right..

  • Tamou is not worth the $$$ Penriff are paying.

  • Wish he could have gone to Raiders before used up Juniors money

Same reason I hope Broncos get GI
  • Wouldn't want him, on too much for what he offers.

  • He'll require too much money. We let Paulo go over money. No use replacing an expensive battering ram with a more expensive battering ram.

And there's no way I'd take him on 4 years like Penrith. Too long a contract for his position and age. Too easy to get burned.

He's a big unit with a big unit (so they say) but I'd pass.
    • captain I would say with out knowen  the facts, paulo had to much baggage to pay $800,000 to stay, reports is he was on only $200,000 , parra or brad  was never going to pay this guy, hes was in troubles and a bad roll model for others young players t our club, we all know the road rage story, the 3rd grade rugby match in another guys name, then the photo with crims, and the police warning, you reward good roll models like tamou,, no jnr Paulo, no matter if hes a good goer on the field ..

better he went.. brad has others who will build up to be fine players..

  • Sounds like the cows have started to realise that there is a salary cap, and are offloading some players before they get hit like Parra did. Interesting times. Have the other clubs become a little gun shy of late or will the likes of Brisbane and Melbourne continue to do whatever it takes to fill their teams with stars?

  • has anyone seen his wife, Britney???
    wow!!!! talk about "punching"
    • I have now! Nice......
    • I know.. Glamour. Hopefully he is hung like a horse.. It's the only justification I'll be happy with

1. Who would you like to see get flogged in Vegas - Gutherson or Moses. Or maybe they don't concern you and are only focused on us. For mine its Gutherson, I've never liked him off the park. Sure in the park he gave everything, but his contract…

"De Belin will do a lot of the clean up work, the 3rd man in for our defence. Hopgood is now not alone in that area. He will not be flashy but he will definately do his job."

"positives are Loiero is out. That is a big piece of their middle, he does a lot of clean up work in defence, tightens up the attack. No Katoa and they are umming and arring whether to play Ativalu Lasati or Joe Chan on right edge.
This is a prime to…"
