Take a breath

I think, for anyone that read the responses (or took part in) in the recently deleted blog by Ron in regards to Semi Radradra. You'd have noticed a large degree of depravity displayed by many members of this website. Now I can understand that with everything that we've encountered so far this year, the current dilemma's the media are placing around Semi's departure are but another page in the apparently never ending saga of hypothetical shit piles we're being dragged through. So yes, people are frustrated, angry even, at wits end? But that is no excuse for the abhorrent rants that appeared there.

I won't sit here in any sort of denial that there is potentially something going on with Semi. But that doesn't mean I'll write him off. The media has thrown out bait everytime Semi leaves the country, last bye there was reports he'd headed to Brisbane. Until he officially signs elsewhere/is released, he's a Parramatta player, and we should treat him as such. The players are already getting bashed by the media, they shouldn't be bashed by the fans unless it's official. Especially in response to what is currently media hearsay.

More than ever, I believe we need to stop jumping the gun on speculation without official proof behind it. Maybe it's because I'm a young whipper snapper, I haven't grown the stubborn grit of immediate anger that I've noticed around here. But before going and giving up on Semi after articles that provide zero quotes or actual proof. Think.

Our very own, Snake, has stated multiple times that Semi is unhappy but continues to refuse to provide us reasoning behind that unhappiness. Despite the confusion I gather from his hesitation to reveal, I don't disagree that Semi is unhappy. Although, I feel like his reasoning may stem from his father's health that is deteriorating and that he presides in another country. He's conflicted between staying and making his family proud and making the money to help them, or going back to be with them. As well as current speculation surrounding his relationship break down.

He was in tears about the entire scenario not too long ago.

I draw your attention to this from last year for insight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21tprew5OwQ

I don't know about you, but that's not a situation that leaves someone in the greatest head space. Which leads me to hope he is in fact bringing his father back to Australia. He'll be able to do both of his desires, look after his father and play footy.

That's just my thoughts. It's not a matter of denial. It's a matter of keeping faith in someone until proven otherwise. That's what we as true supporters should be doing.

But hey, maybe I don't know what being a true supporter means.

  • That's why you 'let it through' to the keeper til its gospel.

    That's my strategy now lol

The team are 'playing what's in front of them' , and that's what I am going to do too.

    • A good woman plays with what's in front of her too. I've had enough being shafted by male CEO's. Time for a woMAN CEO. As long as she's got a nice face I'm happy to let it through to the keeper.

  • You sound like a great supporter Maelstrom, well spoken.

  • Yeah saw it too Mael, that's why I completely left it also but I was still in the first stage of shock......
  • I can't say that I think it's fair to have a go at people because they reacted to news.

The story was broken on the 6pm channel 9 news, Danny Weidler stated that he could confirm that Semi had left the country, was headed for France to play union, and wouldn't be returning. He stated that he had walked out on Parramatta.

Fans reacted accordingly in the belief that the story was accurate. Lets not forget that the poor old fans have copped an absolute hammering this year - maybe they should be given the benefit of the doubt when they are smashed with yet another heartbreaking headline and react over emotionally.

At the end of the day the club posted a statement within an hour, the story was shown to be inaccurate, and the blog was deleted - no harm done.

Personally, I didn't have anything bad to say and doubted the validity of the story from the outset, but surely fans can be forgiven for over reacting a bit.

IF it comes to pass that Semi has walked I have no doubt that we will see another blog with a very similar sentiment to the original one. That's the way footy fans tend to roll when their club gets f***ed over  :)

    • You doubted the validity of a Weidler story? Oh Kram how could you! We all know he's the pinnacle of journalistic integrity.
    • Totally understand where you're coming from Kram, and certainly agree. I wasn't as such speaking in regards to people reacting angrily at news that was placed as factual, more or less the slander that came with it. It just put a bad taste in my mouth some of the things that people wrote about Semi and how they attacked him on a personal level without restraint.

    • Well said, and absolutely accurate to how it unfolded.

You can't blame the poor fans for reacting the way they did when all the leading media outlets are reporting the story as "breaking news"

  • Great Blog, great YouTube clip

  • I'm with you on that Kramerica. It was presented as factual breaking news on Channel 9 six o'clock news no less. I fell for it as I probably did with other stories that night and the weather....never again.
