Taka playing second row.

Personally I think this bloke will struggle to play in forwards. Considering the workload and amount of tackles this guys endure in the season, I just can't see that happening for our Takairangi. You have to be a bit mental to play this position.Hope I'm wrong. Hayne being back taking over his spot. It's so or wenty...

  • I think Taka will go great providing he stays injury free, i feel he is quite underrated by some. BA wouldn't play him there if he didn't think he could handle it.

  • He's played 2nd row before, he'll be right.

  • Why? We’re in desperate need of a ball playing edge forward to give our pack creativity. We’re too one dimensional in attack. A big body with his ball skills should prove a handful as long as he plays straight more often then not and doesn’t force his outside men to slide unless we have angled runners to straighten or change the direction of attack.
Defensively he won’t have as much pressure to move laterally which will benefit him greatly. My only concern is lower leg injury’s playing closer to the middle when you stand in a tackles and offload. He’s a great reader of defence and adept at creating overlaps but I worry about his knees and ankles in closer under a couple of defenders weight.
    • Agree Bup.  Anyone who has played outside Taka has benefited from his set up ability.  (Ask Semi)  Now there will be a couple outside him, could be happy days.  Whether he (and his knees) can stand up to the added dimensions of the tough and grind of the forwards, time will tell.

  • I agree with what your saying but also very curious to see how he goes. He could be great, lets hope he's a revelation. Seems injury prone though so fingers crossed.

  • Unfortunately I can’t see him making a full season in 2nd row. It’s a huge ask to change positions and play nrl every week consistently
  • He'll be more valuable for us as a ball playing forward on the edge.... More useful than being the games slowest back!

  • Big body

    Great Vision

    Good leg speed

    Great Hands

    He'll be right!!

  • Get 40 50 minutes out of him that’s perfect, besides he use to play in the forwards at the roosters, prop actually.
  • He won't be playing in the middle, he'll be playing on an edge. He's played there before with the Roosters & the Titans.
