  • It’s a depleted squad but even so I don’t think he will start in the centres . I don’t think anyone ever says he can’t play, he’s the arguably got the best footy IQ in the side. He’s unfortunately on the wrong side of too many speed match ups in the centres.
    • Great response ME and so very true. Taka has a great footy brain and is a great teammate to be around. But truth be told that even Coen Hess on one leg out paced Taka on at least 2 occasions during the semi loss to the Cowboys.

  • I think you guys are dead idiots - not one of you has picked up on the great positive this is for the Eels 2018.

I am not too sure how many players we have in WC teams (7 maybe?) but look at the experience the players will be getting when they basically are playing a finals type game - EVERY game.

Alvaro, Brown, Ma'u, Terepo, Taka, Jennings et al.

WC may be a waste to many of you but it is experience our players need to perform on the big stage.

Yes I hear the wailing of those who will say some of the matches won't be as hard as some club games - well you're WRONG - WRONG - WRONG.

To every team contesting the WC they are in it to win it regardless of their line up.

It is a small vociferous crowd who are hating on Taka but they are the same ones that hate on players all the time.

"So and so missed ONE tackle so lost the game for us and should be punted from the team - blah - blah - ad nauseum"

Take an objective look at the advantages people.

    • Yeah great experience playing Lebanon, USA and Italy. Real hard opposition there for sure Col......

    • It means a lot to these players, well done it's a small token for a good season they had. The more players the better it is as a club.
    • Sir Col,

The flip side to this is that most players also have incentive clauses in their club contracts for playing rep football and that extra coin the club will have to pay them will fall within the salary cap as well.

  • I think perhaps the author of this blog may have watched very few games this yr. As one who has, Taka has been one of our most consistent performers. He does a lot of hard yards and quiet a few of them at that. His future is probably in the back row but thanks for giving your all in 2017 Taka. Most impressive.
  • Go taks
  • Completely agree. And he’s not the worst.
People complain when every single positioned isn’t filled by a superstar.
Every team needs capable nrl level players that provide good value. Taka is a big body, good hands, solid D. He’s not quite quick enough as you’d like for a centre and can get outstripped for pace but he stays in the game all day and absolutely does a job for the team. He also does plenty of hard yards when coming out of our end. He’s a very solid team player. I’m glad he’s ours.
