Tahu ruled out of All Stars game

Parramatta's Timana Tahu has been ruled out of a rugby league comeback in the highly-anticipated All Stars clash on the Gold Coast due to a previous judiciary charge. The dual international was likely to be included in the Indigenous All Stars team named in Brisbane on Friday and selected by an online fan poll. But a review of judiciary records has confirmed that Tahu has yet to serve a two-match suspension imposed in his final game for the Eels during the 2007 NRL finals series before defecting to rugby union. The suspension followed an early guilty plea to a grade one contrary conduct head-slam charge.Tahu will also miss one of Parramatta's two official trials in completing his suspension.http://www.nrl.com/newsviews/latestnews/newsarticle/tabid/10874/newsid/57307/tahu-ruled-out-of-all-stars-game/default.aspxwould have been great to see im in this match up.

  • What a joke this is. The NRL finally organises a pre-season event that will get the fans juiced up for the upcoming season, by pinning two teams of players of different race and cultures together, who normally wouldn't have the chance to play alongside and they are going to rule out one of the star attraction's because of a suspension he incurred 2 seasons ago. Tahu will be shattered not being able to play.

Hopefully it will only make him more hungry to come out on fire for the Eels in round 1 (plus there's no chance he can injure himself :P)
  • I can't believe trial games are counted in a suspension. I mean it is good for parra in this instance but it doesn't really make sense to me.
  • WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE !!!!!
  • Come mid next year the All-Star game will be long forgotten. This suspension will only make him keener come Round 1. Rules are rules I s'pose, no matter how harsh it may seem. At least he won't be risking any injuries by playing in that game.
  • I think this is great news. We all knew that he had a 2 game suspension hanging over his head. If the All Star game means the suspension is reduced by 1 game then it's a good thing for us. The earlier he has a chance to start playing in Eels colours the better.
  • The stupidest thing about this decision is the fact the NRL knew all along that Tahu had the 2 game suspension, but they still had his name down eligible to be voted for the the all-star game the whole time. They should have made Tahu aware that he couldn't play befor they released the list of eligible players, that way Tahu could have just copped it on the chin.
    • Absolutely right! Another missed opportunity for the NRL to promote the game. This Dreamtime game is a great idea as an annual event - an opportunity to raise awareness, and inspire indigenous youngsters to kick a Steeden rather than a Sherrin; and an excellent way to get the fans involved in selecting the teams. And who came up with this idea to promote our game over the other codes?? Was it David Gallop and the inspirational NRL board?? Was it some marketing boffin?? Was it some bunch of smug former Qlders (I think they call themselves FOGS)??

No, it was little Preston Campbell - doing the job that the highly paid administrators are SUPPOSED to be doing! Oh, but wait! Considering how excited not only Parra fans are but the League in general that Timana Tahu has returned from the clutches of their arch-enemies - the ARU - and considering Tahu's pride in his indigenous heritage, what does the NRL do?? Ban him from playing an exhibition match after committing a head-slam in an NRL game in 2007!!

Way to go guys! Way to promote rugby league!
