  Luke kelly did well in defence in the finals, also morgans try saver against melbourn was a good tackle aswell

  For me it was Junior Paulo, i know it doesnt come a surprise to many given how rated this guy is but his cover defense and fitness was levels above what it was last year. He was reading plays beautifully and awareness was greater than ever plus he wanted to do the hard work not many forwards wanted to do until they got into the opposition red zone. overall equal 2nd in Offloads, 4th in Tackles and equal 3rd in Hit ups. Brad Arthur has done wonders, Tepai did well statisticslly but I noticed far too many lapses in his awareness and judgement that will create more headaches in the long run. Still only 19 but needs a couple of years in reserve grade in my opinion.
  
  And Cornish has been underrated, the way he connected with Norman and with him on the Eels looked much crisper and sharper than with Kelly. Would love to see Norman at 1. Cornish at 7. And Foran at 6.

   i tipped the eels to go well  i said morgan folau french moeroa were suited in nines 

  apart from folau (injured )  the others were very good

  Vai and Terepo have bought shares in a supa glue factory. It will rub off surely.

  Vai and Peni were amazingly better than I thought they would be.

  The thing is, we won this tourny with none of our new big name signings - commentators were harping on about how much stronger we are this year because of who we signed yet none of them actually made an appearance. Technically, we could have signed no one and still won the thing.

  The surprise for me was the competitiveness, tenacity and poise/self belief they displayed. Apart from game 1 they were absolutely outstanding. Looks like the coaching staff and senior players are really influencing the way the entire squad approach thier footy - polar opposite to what we have seen in recent years.

    For whatever reason, Vai started out slow. 
    Just didn't look like things were going to go his way as he dropped a couple of passes, his head went down & he struggled a bit. 

    But as the games went on, he gained confidence and momentum, and his form shot up immediately in the tournament. 
    His turning point was that beautiful left kick he put in against the Bunnies - if I recall correctly - for Frenchie to race through & score.
    After that, he was immense.
    Another lovely pass for French's 2nd try in that same game.

    So there's some good signs there and what it does show - something that some of us have always believed all along - is that Vai Toutai makes a better centre than he does winger.

  Ok, I'm going to commit 1EE suicide here, but after the over excited way he started off, the surprise packet for me was Corey.
