  • Is this new news? I don't recall hearing that Weller had been released. I know there was plenty of discussion as to whether he needed to go or whether he could use next season to show his true value.
  • meh there goes some no name player who cares.
  • whatever, you can have him.......
i doubt he will be a success over there either , even though the crusaders are the worst team in the ESL
  • This is good news
  • Well you would want to hope we have a replacement lined up. How is it good news when we lose another second rower, with no indication there is a replacement waiting in the wings. If we're having to let a player like Weller go because we're in cap trouble then we go into the 2010 looking very light in the second row department. We've now lost Lowrie, Galuvao, Huaraki with only Shackleton replacing them - our second row depth is looking very, very light now.
  • No loss, would not have been in top 17. DA is quietly impressed with the new boy PELE. Huge boy who is suprisingly quick ( similar to the great Foi ). DA is putting in some work with him, thinks he may have something and was a bargain buy. Hauraki was vey ordinary, mistake ridden game and it frees a bit of money up.
We will be right....... you dont release the ones you want to keep.....
  • Parra_90 you're absolutely correct.

For all you people saying Hauraki is no loss.....he is a player with FG experience, just who better do you suggest we replace him with? There are no players really on offer atm!

And if you're going to suggest someone else will feel the void, you better think again...

Horo is untested in FG, wasn't playing well in Reserve Grade either in the back end of last year

And O'Hanlon is still young and raw and is 12 months away from FG at least

So to all of you giving Hauraki a hard time, just have a think about it from that perspective
  • While Hauraki would have been nice to keep as depth in the pack, he (and most of the other forwards we have dropped since the new board came in) was on a contract far above what he deserved, and with salary cap space so tight for us now, getting rid of bad contracts is important.

In regards to our forward depth, Hauraki was without question our most experienced 'depth' player, but at some stage we were going to need to blood some new talent, now we just have to do it a little sooner. I have hopes that Tim Robinson will eventually develop into a solid first grader, hopefully he gets first shot now Hauraki is gone.

My only regret here is that he didn't go with the rest of them (Paulo, Latimore, Wright, Cordoba) and give us a chance to keep Kingston.
  • If it is true that he is leaving, then it further strengthens my opinion that we might be seeing Cayless in the number 12 jersey this season. Not saying I agree with this change however.
    • I think Cayless will play between the two positions, starting in 12 and moving up to prop when Fuifui goes off. We're certainly not going to want for size this year.

""Chance is mist" is a really appropriate typo/autocorrect. The chance just goes pfft, evaporates into nothing. Not sure Dylan B has got the mix right this year, more often passing when he should run or running when he should pass. "
