Ricky Stuart, the last man to coach New South Wales to an Origin series victory, has been confirmed as the Blues' first full-time coach for the next two years.

New South Wales has not won a series since 2005, the last year of Stuart's previous tenure.

Since then, the start-studded Queensland side has recorded five straight series' victories.

Stuart replaces Craig Bellamy.

  • Loved him as a player, forgettable as a coach, so not really sure what to make of this. I guess it will get down to who he surrounds himself with and how much control he has of the team selection.
  • I think the review that Brian Canavan conducted recommended that the coach be solely responsible for team selection

Dont know if this makes Fulton, Daley, McCarthy redundant or not
  • great news for queensland . QUEENSLANDER !
  • Lol!!!!!!

    QUEENSLANDER!!!!!!

man.......what is NSW thinking? If they ever figure out a) how to pick the right team of players who play in position and b) a real coach, we are screwed........

Just silly......Stuart is not the guy....,.

    Anyway with
  • lol if anything happens to the selection of Jarryd as fullback ill personally hunt Stuart down myself!
  • Hope so, f**k em off, they have no idea!
  • I think we'll give it a shake next year. Most of the gun up and comers are Blues. I think Hayne, Carny, Pearce at 1,6,7 just about matches up to Slater, Lockyer and Thurston and its been about a decade since we've been able to say that.
  • Or if Hayne gets moved to six by Parra, this is droolworthy. Dugan, Hayne, Carney.
  • If the coach has alot of the selection power than I think Stuarts the man to give Blues jumpers to players who should actually be there. Lawrence and Farah can make the Australian team yet not get picked for Origin, go figure.
  • Agree about Lockyer in 4 nations James.

Cooper Cronk was the dominant half in finals game imo
    Did heaps more than Locky
Maybe DL needs to review his rep career and spend the last year of his playing at club level.
I would hate to see him go "one season too many" and go out a loser.
Too many top class players fall victim to this.
