A discussion on a blog was how competitive were we when Farnsworth came on to the market. I suspected that a man name Bennett was a big influence and then that started me thinking further.

i.e. I live in Brisbane and if I wanted to play for a club purely on location, I would take Redcliffe every time. Its on the bay, modern and reasonable cost housing, canal estates, close proximity to the Sunshine Coast. It seem s to me that if Parra wants to develop long term strategies they need to think outside of the square.  Kellyville is a great area /location for people/ players to wander into the "greenfields of the Hawkesbury/ Windsor area..... can we invest in a leagues club up that way, accomodation for younger players and family housing and education, all within 20/30 minutes from training at Kellyville.

Manly have virtually taken over Blacktown workers and done the reverse, i.e have the Manly environment and access to the socio economic attractions of kids playing football in the Western Suburbs.

Manly have an infrastructure to pick up and transport players to the Northern Beaches training environ. In doing this they have cherry picked the youngsters as Parra has tried to be equal to all in a process of so many players in their pathways. What Manly pick up is a refined version! Its also well known that to be picked at Parramatta is a mixture of good luck and fortune which disorientates rightly or wrongly the parents of these kids. Young players coming through Blacktown have definately/seemingly been offered "more" opportunities that  Parra has, and Parra doesn't have 3 brothers in the one side!

We have come a longway since the "dark ages of 2014 and prior" so we cannot be too critical but we cannot afford to rest on our laurels.

I havent lived in Sydney for 45 years (Ermington with my brother opening a hardware store at kellyville, I used to go horse riding at Cateye on the banks of the Hawkesbury) so my geography maybe inaccurate, but people can correct me on the local opportunities and yes we are blessed with some BUT WHY THE NEGATIVITY OF PARRA NOT BEING THE DESTINATION FOR MANY PLAYERS< high and low profile.

It seems to me that the word strategy is being defined to the now and not the future, the board has a lot of responsibility in addressing this, not the incumbent football team management.

Personally I am more of the big picture type and not great on the detail......what do you people that live and know of the area think as availability and opportunities of making Parra a destination club.

  • The club do house young players mate. They have done for decades.

    • Don't be condescending Mutts, its not the point and you know it!

      • "can we invest in a leagues club up that way, accomodation for younger players and family housing and education, all within 20/30 minutes from training at Kellyville."

I wasn't being at all condescending. I merely replied to this point you made. Have a cup of tea mate.

        • I don't drink tea and I found it condescending from someone that I respect and should know better. When you are speaking down to someone "like have a cup of tea" it becomes condescending, facts don't enter it.

PS Do you think I did not know the club houses young players, mate.

I have as much affection for the clubs as you do Mutts, I wrote this blog to facilitate a discussion that may or may not have some value. Do you have any input that would be valuable as I do value your opinions.

          • You seem to be looking for an argument. I'm not going to have one. I'm not sure why you're asking questions you apparently know the answers to.

          • Are u bipolar?

            • Is that me or Mutts, that's directed to..... that said I think we are all on the "spectrum" somewhere.

              • Lol my wife says that all the time. She is a social worker and says in her belief everyone has some form of austism ahahaha.

                • Sounds like she is a good judge LB..... I'm pretty sure she is right.

                • Nothing wrong with autistic people. Normally have a higher IQ than most.
