STORM  will play this week against  warriors , problem is   they are still over the cap all year ,

No  side  should play against them  until the cap is  met , it doesnt matter that storm cant get points , all teams  fielded should  meet the cap or  2 points  goes to oposition without  playing a minute . NRL  must tell them  to drop  or stand  down  players  to be fair   to other  sides .

eg   EELS play  storm in june ,   storm fields the side  that  breaks  the cap , my feeling is we should  get the points  and rest  our   honest  side .

Please  comment on this ......

Oh  and  no player  should  play  rep honors  if   they  knew  about the  payments , no origin ,no country  or  international  honors .

  • Mmm I do agree in a way... I would feel cheated again if you lose to the storm this year.

I think they should have given all teams who lost to the storm this year two points, and every team to play them get two points win or lose
  • No the easiest way of getting around this BS joke of a competion is to kick them out for the year why should teams play them risk injury for what??

    THis is BS!!
    • Picture this - Jeff LIMA lines up takes out say HAYNE - gets 8 weeks and HAYNE is out of the game for 12 weeks. The game means nothing to MELB now but we lose everything. I am worried about playing melb as I think that it going tn difficult playing them knowing that it basically means nothing to them.

Who knows what mental state they are in the players and what they will do to the rest of the comp as a result. Should have been suspended from teh competition for 1 year and probation period of 2 yaers after that.
  • It's a completely stuffed up situation. Each team is going to be handicapped before they play the Storm because they can fit an extra 700K worth of talent on the field.

If we played every team twice it wouldn't matter as every team has the same disadvantage.... but not all teams play each other twice.

They should be forced to sit ut 700 k worth of talent.
  • Can't believe Phil Gould's logic on this topic, he seems to think that Melbourne should be allowed to earn competition points after reducing their playing roster by 700K. They even cheated in 2010 and I believe they are lucky to have not been expelled from this season. What precedent is he trying to set, when cheating if you get caught than just scale down your team and the rest of the season is fine. Get him off the footy show and Sunday Roast.
    • Sorry ( & this is hard for me to say) but I agree with SOME of what he said. I think they should keep playing...but strip them of all competition points until they get rid of enough players to be under the cap. Any players that are found to be guilty of the illegal payments should be the first to go, because I don't think that the innocent players should have to suffer. As for the club, as others have said, they will suffer with fines, sackings & probably jail sentences.
    • I agree, I am a bit of a fan of Gus but I think his stance on this whole matter is pretty weak, and is starting to piss me off. It seems like all he wants to do is push his own agenda's like his ideas on the salary cap. He needs to give it a rest and concentrate on footy tactics on Sunday.
  • The point of the salary cap breach is that they have been able to assemble a playing roster by paying "overs" in relation to the cap. If they are allowed to compete for points for the rest of the year by taking pay cuts - then they still have the same roster that was assembled illegally. If they were to win the comp again this year I am sure there would be even more outrage and dissatisfaction with the league for not doing enough to punish the Storm.

If they were to keep the current payments, but be forced to cut players until their cap was met, then there would be a number of players out of a job - as well as a club with less than their 25 member squad.

Each scenario is unworkable. Their is no solution that is not going to seem too harsh to one party or another. I think the current action is the only one that could be taken.
