Steve Sharp interview Fox Sports

I watched a confident Steve Sharp being interviewed a short while ago by James Hooper. Here are some of the things he said;# To my knowledge we aren't rorting the cap# We will get to the bottom of how and why Jarryd Hayne was paid $39K after he left the club. There's not much I can say about that till the investigation is complete.# He understands the public perception of rorting but there's not much he can do till the investigation is complete.# In response to the allegation that the board ignored an email from the CFO about Anthony Watmough's 3rd party deal could be in breach of the salary cap he said it's wrong to suggest nothing was done and he responded by email to the CFO informing him that the club will follow a process to get to the bottom of it.# We've had people in our organisation that are very good at deception.# Hooper said it's an $80M business and all this has happened on his watch and asked whether he will or should resign. Sharp said no he shouldn't resign at the moment as he and the board are the ones driving the change in the organisation.# Regarding the prospect of losing competition points he said he would be disappointed if that happened as no one wins if that happens including players, coaches, fans and the game itself.# We're confident we can work with the NRL and come out the other side.

    • It was getting a bit pseudo Klu Klux pitchforks & burning all Sharp objects. Seems to have hosed down a little.
  • I am getting sick of the "we didn't know" or "it happened before I got here" coming out of Sharp and Boulos especially when the big year in question is 2014 and Sharp was chairman then
    • X 10000 sick of the no responsibility line .... And the demeanor that all is fine in eels land . Does not give off how serious the situation is for players coach or fans :-(( grrrrrrr
  • If there was one question where I thought Sharp looked uncomfortable it would be the Jarryd Hayne one.
  • He went ok but I would prefer to see the CEO interviewed instead.
  • Fuck i dont even know where to start with this, ''weve had people in our organisation that are very good at deception'' well Steve its a pitty you didnt learn something off them because you are shit with it.

How could the club chairman not know that payments of 39k went to ANYBODY, not just an ex player the profile of Hayne, there is not a snowballs chance in Hell Steve doesnt know about those payments.

I cant see anything wrong with paying a player off our books, we are paying him 50k to use his image at the club, we should have just said the payments were part of that or ontop of that, hes roped himself into a corner saying he doesnt know

There seems to be a shitload that Steve is blissfully unaware of, all the contract bungles were blamed on Scott Seaweed, the writings on the wall here, anybody who cant see Steves Modus operandi by now is kidding themselves, its beyond a joke.

Im starting to resent Steve because of how much of a fool he takes supporters, either Steve is very delusional and arrogant, or he is completely stupid.

Id say its a combination of all three, im starting to understand the hatred for the bloke, im seeing a pattern in how he talks to people, he talks as though he's talking to a fool, his announcing to everybody the other day to relax and dont worry because we were investigating ourselves, i mean its beyond moronic.

    • He is like a bloke at Denpasar airport caught with drugs saying woops lol snake . Seemingly not aware or brushing over the magnitude
    • Would you prefer him throw his hands in the air and say," you got us, guilty as charged", before an investigation is even complete?.
    • The thing that gets me is that even if it was completely Seward's fault this board is not taking any responsibility for employing him or ensuring there were accountability measures. And if there was a mess to clean up after Seward left why didn't we go to the NRL and say 'crap, things are in a bloody mess here - weird contracts, messy TPAs, etc we'll just tell you everything to be sure it's above board'.

Also, Steve better be damned sure that Seward was deceptive otherwise they'll be a defamation suit landing on the doorstep tomorrow.

    • Nutcracker we did exactly that. We went to the NRL.
