Looks likely that Foran will be leaving, Matai wouldn't have been cheap.
AFTER months of speculation Steve Matai was set on a move away from Manly, the star centre has inked a new deal likely to see him finish his career with the Sea Eagles.
The 30-year-old dual-premiership star asked for a release from the club last season as the Glenn Stewart saga set in but the club has clearly placated Matai in recent weeks, and announced his re-signing until the end of the 2017 season this afternoon.
“Signing a new deal is always a great feeling, but signing on with the same club after all these years is something pretty special,” Matai told seaeagles.com.au.
“There’s been a lot of speculation of late, so to have my future sorted before the start of the season is great.
“It means my focus can simply go back to ensuring I’m fit and ready for action as soon as possible.”
“The main priority was always my family — my partner Kate and my two little kids. Everything I do is for them. They start school soon, so not having to relocate definitely played a part in the decision too.
“My goal is always to make them happy. If they’re happy, then I’m happy and I’ve done my job.”
“We’ve got a developed and proud winning culture here at the club which has been established over many years, and I know we’ve got the players, talent and desire to be up there once again.”
Sea Eagles CEO Joe Kelly was delighted to tie down one of the club’s senior players.
“We identified Steve as a really important part of our retention strategy this season,” Kelly said.
“We’re absolutely delighted that he’s made the decision to stay with us until the end of 2017, as he’s one of the most damaging and powerful players in our game.
“For Sea Eagles members and fans to know they won’t have to worry about seeing Steve line-up against the club over the next few seasons is extremely pleasing.
“To also see Steve remain a one-club player in this era, really does put him in very elite company and is a special achievement.”

Well there you go huh?
Yeah I find it very interesting considering he apparently wanted out at the end of last yr
This is fantastic news. One of the players I hate most stays on with one of the clubs I hate the most. Now my hate for him can remain at maximum up until the day he retires. Doesn't get any better than that.
You selfish bastard, FME. It’s all about me, me, me ay? ; )
What's your thinking behind this Oracle?
agree.
I think DCE will end up at the Titans and Foran will stay at Manly.Arent he and Matai also good mates
That's a possibility... But I dont think so. There's been too many rumours going around that Foran refuses to sign with Manly. But who knows, anything is possible when it comes to these things. Foran could end up anywhere.
