Yeah watched it on YouTube earlier.
Pretty simple analysis and he thinks it's an easy fix,
I tend to agree so why hasn't it been fixed?
Mate it just has to be the fault of the coaching assistants, players, refs, fans, etc.
Thanks MM. 'it's ground hog day...' bloody oath .. since back end of last year.
Thanks for sharing Mutts.
This is a not so subtle message to Arthur showing exactly what they're doing wrong and how easily it can be fixed. He's clearly felt the need to show it in slow motion so that Arthur and co can actually see what is going wrong. It's bordering on comparison to a parent teaching their child to sound out a word
There's definitely frustration there because he knows this was an issue last year and it still isn't fixed.
On a positive note I think he genuinely believes we have a chance this year if we sought this out
So in summary he said we have an 18 year old kid who will be good but is not yet ready. We have a winger who does the opposite to the player inside him and should be communicating and we have a forward that is too exhausted to spread. So stay on your wing and slide unless there is absolutely no other option. So change the winger, change the 5/8 and and then put the centre back on the side they are used to. Bring second row to centre and centre to wing to improve defence and increase lateral movement. It is the job of the winger to communicate who has who. And call players across as needed. Almost sounds like chess. Also why do we also seem to have a small player tackling a forward. Seems like we miss a forward in defence. Tough choices to make and difficult when you have 2 players suspended. Let's see what tomorrow brings. But we are better than last year but I also think so is Melbourne and even more so Penrith.
I can agree with alot of your points but its not the wingers job to control the edge defense, its the center followed by the half. The winger needs to react to the centers decision and the last two weeks which have been more times wrong then right, making Ferguson look much worse than he is
Maybe but when I was coached as a winger it was my job to count and call the players across then we would talk on who has who. Also if the winger scored then it was my fault if the centre scored their fault so we took responsibility. So if Ferguson just stays on his man then he is blameless.
Love how passionate he is and how obviously annoyed he is.
This has to be fixed
What this clip doesn't highlight is the extremely fast pace the Rabbitohs backs were aloud to travel, as a result of our forwards doing a terrible job dominating tackles and not stoping post contact meters. 5 Rabbitohs forwards ran for well over 100m and obviously dominated the collison. Having 4 backrowers and a small lock could be part of the problem. If you look at all 3 loses we lost the middle
Not that the poor reads particularly by Opacic, even tho you can see he was trying to protect Jake as best as could is acceptable just are being put under to much pressure. As Stero said with some work the edge can be fixed and i believe it starts in the middle
I would almost go back to what worked early in the season on the right edge with small change having a Lane, Brown, Waqa and Ferguson combo. Move Matterson to the left and haveing a bench of Nuikora, Kaufusi, Papalii and Cartwright and tell the starters to rip in as hard as you can knowing we have a strong rotation.
Yep. The fowards rolled through the middle due to shit first contact.
