Sterling gets sacked from NSW Blues Advisor role.

This must be embarrassing for Sterlo considering how long Fulton was in the position for. Finally the PC, fence sitting, bullet dodger got capped. His first foray into coaching and he gets sacked after 3 games... are there people here still that reckon this guy would be a great coach?Sun 3.12.17. NSWRL MediaThe Board of NSW Rugby League is delighted to announce the appointment of True Blue Greg Alexander as an advisor to NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler ahead of the 2018 State of Origin series. In announcing Alexander’s appointment, NSWRL Chairman Dr Peponis said: “This role is one of the key positions in the State of Origin structure and we are very pleased that Greg has agreed to follow in the footsteps of Bob Fulton and Peter Sterling in the role. On behalf of the NSWRL Board, I would like to congratulate Greg on his appointment and to publicly acknowledge the work which Peter Sterling did with the team last year and to thank him for his contribution to NSWRL.”NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said: “This is a really exciting appointment for NSWRL and it adds significantly to the momentum which has been created in our organisation in recent weeks, with the announcement of a new coach, a new front of jersey partner, a new apparel partner and the renewal of several other existing commercial relationships. Greg’s appointment is not only about the expertise that he will bring to the role, it is also about the respect which he carries everywhere in the game”.Coach Brad Fittler said: “Greg was there for me at the start. He was my captain at Penrith when we won the competition. He has been a mentor of mine for the whole of my career. He is the person who I trust most, not only about football, but about everything.”Greg Alexander said: “It was a great honour to be asked by Freddy to be involved in the State of Origin next season. This is an exciting time for NSW with the large number of experienced players in the team, but also because of the host of new emerging talent that there is. I am looking forward to working with Freddy, who I think was the perfect choice to lead New South Wales into its future State of Origin campaigns.”

  • Not surprised!!! Bags Hayne and he choose him.
    • I’ve found this particularly funny too. Sterling has been one of the more vocal media personalities bagging Hayne, and yet he was the selector who chose him in all three origin matches
  • As much as i think Sterlo is cut out for commentary and not on the radar as a coach. You can hardly blame him for a shit 2nd half in game 2 which cost the Blues the series. If they performed in that second half and won the series he would probably be held partly accountable for their success. It's seemingly a pretty cut throat gig.

  • To be fair, Sterlo doesn't really have the time to invest in that position. I was of the opinion he had an advisory role for this year only. We did see some changes to the team structure, and no doubt this will continue now the change has commenced.
  • Of course they would appoint Greg Alexander as he’s buddies with Fittler! Both Penrith boys! Can’t have a Panther and Eel working together! Don’t care too much for Fittler or Alexander both twits!
  • Throw Gus into the mix and there will be so much gobbling going on in origin camp they'll have to hand out the chapsticks.

  • This might have something to do with picking a player at centre for 3 games then saying he can’t play centre.
  • Nsw will get absolutely pumped this year with those two nuffies at the helm . Can’t wait to see Fitlers team selection .

    • You mean Snorkel Sterling or Gonzo Daley? Sterlo advised Daley on team selection BEM.
  • At least no Eels players will be injured during Origin as Brandy will advise against picking any.

Perhaps this was final straw and thought this would be last year anyway as no other clubs showing interest."
