What are people's thoughts on this kid. Has a pretty good write up in the telegraph and rated in top 10 schoolboys by Code Sports. Made the Aussie schoolboys side but came from NZ as a16yo now 17 and playing well in Flegg with older kids.
He gives big wraps to Josh Hodgson who worked with him and he lost 25kg since joining the club. Signed until 2028 as well so club obviously have huge wraps on him, but I don't feel I have seen his name as much as some others but he might be a year or 2 younger.
Also too those always saying we need to look elsewhere like we only recruit kids from the local area, we grabbed him from NZ Catholic school system and moved him over for school over here and his family followed.
Story from telegraph.
Rated in the top 10 of CODE Sports’ Top 50 schoolboys, the hulking forward originally from Wellington was not long ago in the Warriors’ system in their Harold Matthews Cup (under-17s) squad while attending St Patrick’s College.
But a broken foot forced him to the sidelines for a year, before he and his family took the audacious leap over the Tasman.
“I flew over to the open trial for Parramatta, did well in that, and just been here ever since,” Nunn said.
While his parents Mark and Trish made the move with him, Nunn’s siblings only moved over recently in what he described as a massive cultural shift.
They sacrificed a lot for me. And yeah, I still miss all my mates in New Zealand.
“Leaving my family and all that behind was pretty sad, but, you know, you got to do it to make the dream into a reality.
“It was just good coming from not that good of an area to move up and come to Australia.”
The dividends have already paid off plenty, with Nunn one of Parramatta’s best in SG Ball (under-19s) this year.
He has since graduated to Jersey Flegg (under-21s), all while still 17 and attending school at Patrician Brothers’ College, Blacktown.
“Parramatta identified him and spotted him and signed him, and he was going to a Catholic school in New Zealand, and so for his development, they wanted to make sure that he got the same education level he was getting in New Zealand,” Blacktown teacher Greg Beacroft said.
“That’s what blokes like Sonny Bill Williams and all those could do.”
Nunn has now re-signed with Parramatta until the end of 2028 in a massive show of faith to the club that took a chance on him.
An imposing carrier of the ball with his hard hitting runs, effective offloads and ability to generate quick ruck speed with his play-the-balls, Nunn’s qualities are the blueprint for a successful forward in a new-look rugby league, while also equally lauded for his defensive prowess.
Nunn has also credited part of his quick rise to success to Parramatta’s Harold Matthews Cup coach and former NRL hooker Josh Hodgson, who Nunn said helped him shed more than 25kg.
“When I trialled, I was like 130 kgs, and Hodgo really helped me to lose a bunch of weight,” Nunn said.
“I was still pretty big last year, I was still like around 115. And then SG Ball pre-season really helped me as well to lose more. So I’m about 105 now.”
While a tremendous individual campaign at the recent ASSRL National Championships carnival ended in grand final heartbreak for Nunn and NSW Combined Catholic Colleges, its end with a green and gold jumper was a full circle moment for a New Zealander proud to call Australia home.
“I’d often joke with him and say, ‘A Kiwi going to make the Australian Schoolboys, how good’s that going to be?’ and he’d just smile,” Beacroft said.

Good work FM, like to know the back story of who found him and how it came about at the Genesis level.
Never seen him play. By all reports runs like fui and tackles like cement. Apparently was folding people last week. Still only 17 play front row in 21 s. What a prospect! Hopefully he kicks on.
If you go to Instagram short ball Steven nunn. The guy on there does a good job breaking down his game both in attack and defence. He is exactly what we need now! Hurry up and develop young man.

The Shortball guy is the best person on the net for talent identification.
On Nunn not sure he runs like Fui Fui I dont think there is anyone like him. Nunn is top 30 in 28 and will compliment Sam Teacum Ryda Jackson. Btw I still hope we keep Kotarac.
Nunn is also in the Aussie school boy side so make sure you tune in when they play PNG.
I speak to SB quiet regularly. He told me Nunn was the best forward in the schoolboy comp and it was not even close
Yeah looking forward to him playing for Aus schoolboys
Don't sleep on Popo!!!!! Bell and Polley will be there too hopefully
😄 won't sleep on either of them as well as a few others.
I might got a bit excited on the fui comparison hehehe. His a very start player. Impressed with Jackson. Polley looks good in his highlights. I can't find anything on popo. Kotarac the tall backrower with union background?
He's been mentioned here tbh and the TCT guys have mentioned him too.
He'll be the jersey flegg main prop next year and might make his cup debut.
