I know that there have been a few blogs going around with yet ANOTHER "bad news Parra" story doing the rounds, but I wanted to weigh in and add a comment or two (yes I know I will probably add a few more than two comments, but I can be a bit of a verbose sod at times!!!)
YES, there were issues with previous administration. There WERE some deals done UNDER the PREVIOUS administration, but to begin with, WE CANNOT hang the current board based on the mistakes of the previous management.
Some of the items that have been reported on , such as the discount home unit to Darcy Lussick have already been identified and dealt with, so "switched on" listeners or readers would be immediately aware that there is some level of "extending a truth" that certain sections of the media might be , as the old saying goes, "not letting the truth get in the way of a good story".
I am sure that we all will be "watching that space" as the story develops , but one thing I do hope we ALL do as the story evolves, is try to look beyond the spin that certain sections of media will TRY to place upon it to make the Parramatta position look worse than what it is.
The other aspect I want to comment on, while not exactly Parra related, is something that we can take an use for ourselves.
With all the firestorms happening at the Manly club (mass player cleanouts, the constant denials that they are in talks with other coaches to replaces Geoff Toovey, then the board making moves to give Toovey his marching orders WHILE he and the players are away from home - a very cowardly act in this writers opinion) , the media has seen fit to give Manly a nice golden paintbrush to make their MAJOR issues seem better, saying that Manly are sticking strong and adopting a siege mentality.
Let's do the same!!!
Let the media lob whatever BS grenades they want our way, we know better and will stay strong throughout all of this.
I know at times it may seem hard to see some light in darker times, but I wholeheartedly and truthfully believe that once you begin to cut through the spin, you can clearly see that we have some awesome bright times ahead of us.
We have a board, a "front office" that is for the first time in YEARS a united front (I'll once again paraphrase the late, great, Jack Gibson who said that success starts at the front office .... we now have a stable, united front office, something that I do believe that others in the league FEAR).
We have a coach that is not only respected in the club, but is respected by other players from OTHER clubs. A bloke who IS Parramatta through and through. No nonsense, straight to the heart, tough as nails.
We have a team building and coming together that has a winners tough mentality, tough blokes who are not going to take a backward step and won't accept mediocrity , blokes who are prepared to "gee up" their own blokes and not want heads to drop (two examples come to mind . 1) Danny Wicks in the dying moments of the Melbourne game. Junior loses the ball in a hit up, a scrum is forming and Wicks is slapping his fellow forwards, raising a finger demanding "one more set" out of them all .... and 2) who could forget hearing Corey Norman mic'd up on the Sterlo show). Adding blokes like Scott and Foran just add to this mentality.
Let's keep strong, keep focused, stay blue and gold and KNOW that we have an awesome future in blue and gold ahead

Agree with all of this 100%.
All the way DK
I think all the cheating shit is shit I think someone making it all up im am looking forwards to next year go the might eels in 2016
Firstly the re-hashing of old stories such as lussick's arrangement. Spot on.
Secondly, the media going light on Manly. When Hadley's chum is key to the mass releases, it's natural that he would not go hard on this issue (excuse my choice of words). However, the pursuit of Barrett as a coach when a favourite son in Toovey has done little wrong in his time should have been the subject of more attention. For mine, and bear in mind I hate this club, Toovey has had to steer his club this year with no forwards and the injuries and dramas around his halves. It follows successful years under his tutelage. This coaching change may turn out to be a master stroke, but it smacks of a media group going easy on antics that Fulton has been heavily involved in.
yep, there is a media clique that has an agenda of self adulation and self protection. We can only hope by holding strong or adopting a "siege mentality" as you put it, will very soon see us gloating in a success that we know isn't too far away.
indeed Phil.
I have a real genuine feeling that we are on the cusp of something special at the club.
These times we are going through at the moment, I have a strong inkling that very soon we will be looking back at this point in time, talking about how dark it all felt and how much things have turned around.
Big times, good times, exciting times ahead.
I can't wait for those who love to bag Parramatta in the media eat their words and swallow some humble pie (tho to be honest, I feel that even with a successful Parramatta, they will STILL look for bad news stories)
I also point to R Wilson today in the Tele, giving it to BA again...anyone would think she has a vendetta against him.
I for one will be interested what occurs from all of this. If they take away points it will be a disgrace. And I would expect them to have an audit of every clubs TPA's if this occurs. I also wait with interest what other club is highlighted on Monday.
Good article DK
