For most Parra fans winning the premiership is more important than any one player or coach
For BA, JA is more important than the premiership or any other player for that matter. Winning the premiership is meaningless to him without JA in the team.
JA will play every finals game and if we make the gf JA absolutely will play

If we win the comp I don't care if Brads Mum is in the 17
100% agree
💯
But if the reason we didn't win was because BA put his Mum in the 17 I willed be unhappy. It's not the supporters who are all about JA. We are all about the team and winning. It is BA who is all about JA. We have and will lose games because we do not have our strongest team. Other players are getting left out of the 17 who should be in front of JA. It's not a good situation for Parramatta
Wile and therein lies the issue. Its all about opinions from us here. How do you blame JA for a loss if he plays 5-10 mins and doesn't make an error?
You don't blame JA you blame his selection. Because a better player, a more versatile player, a more dynamic player may have just been the impact we needed to get over the line. But that player wasn't in the 17. It's the opportunity cost that is the issue.
So are you therefore saying that any loss is directly attributable to JA's inclusion ?
You can say that definitively ?
Not any loss.
But I could attribute a loss to JA's selection in the following examples:
- Where we're getting rolled through the middle and we needed another big body on the bench
- Where Mahoney goes down early and we're expecting JA to play big minutes at 9.
- Where we're down by a small score and need a spark off the bench.
- Any circumstance where JA moves to 6 and DB is forced out to the centres
I could go on. The fact is there has not been a single game where havign JA on the bench has worked. Point to a single game where his contribution from the bench has had a positive impact. At best it's simply a waste of a bench spot. That's the very best he can offer from there.
As has been pointed out, BA has shortened his bench rotation down to 3, maybe even two bodies, with 16 & 17 there for insurance & junk minutes. It's an increasingly common usage of the bench by the better teams.
Wouldn't you still prefer a player in the 16 or 17 that can actually have an impact on the game though. I don't care how many minutes are planned for the bench, they all should have a job to do that benefits the team. Carty offers greater cover and can have an impact on the result. Brown can bring aggression if needed, even Rein offers more if Mahoney goes down. What is the actual purpose for having JA on the bench?
