Sponsor consequences

Interesting point just made on 2 GB, Talking about Sharks not having a major sponsor (insert usual dribble), when they said that Parramatta's lack of a major sponsor is having a big impact on jersey salesSaid Rebel and Peter Wynn said sales are a fraction of what they usually were , and most punters were saying that they were not prepared to buy until a sponsor is on the jersey. The Eels are generally the most prominent among sales and its having an impact.

  • I'll be tipping Ronald Mcdonald house will be on it come rd 1 but your right Derek, its going to put a dint in jersey sales for sure, lots thinking we might pick one up mid season and they will be left with one with nothing on it.

Union jerseys look good without sponsorship but RL jerseys generally look a bit better with sponsorship imo.

    • And you know what mate, if we make a jersey available for purchase with a great charity like Ronald mcdonald house on the front, I'd buy one immediately. And I am tight as......
  • I'd prefer one without a sponsor on it. Why do I want to promote Pirtek, Dyldam, Hardieplank etc. Famous Grouse, OK, but the rest can feck off.
  • I think by rd 1 we will have a paid sponsor.

    • Care to make it interesting.? I think we might have one before about round 7 but not holding my breath

  • Snake, I think when I see yawnion jerseys on the news , they are all sponsored now. Still,no,idea why anyone watches the game, but that's another issue .
  • Maybe there just isn't enough interested money in NRL at the moment. The dodgy NRL media reporters are continuously beefing up the negatives and thrive on negativity and the wayward stupid players, it's true we haven't helped there. But they milk it continuously for all its worth. Besides that, fans are also tired of the way the game is run, adjudicated and salary cap unfairness (perceived or otherwise).

Fans love the game, but are fed up with stuff like the above and major sponsors maybe also looking at how much bang for their buck they'll get in the current climate.

Think for a moment, why one of Australia's great games loved by so many, a couple of years ago had to spend a massive $110M promoting themselves. br/>

Strangely back a few years, Storm in an AFL town, didn't skip a beat with retaining their sponsors and from memory increased it.
    Wonder what has changed?

    • Good Point, and there is still an unknown with the 70th year Jersey and what it would look like. If they produce one that is of the original design and colours also have the original logo on it, then I will be purchasing one.

    • If Peter Peters is modelling the Jerseys, no wonder the sales are down.
