Spite night

i was there the night we played Melbourne after they got caught cheating. Best game I’ve seen at Parra stadium. Even better when Hayne head butted billy and subsequently got let off. Billy ain’t got nothing on Hayne. Stats show that when they are both at their best. Hayne has taken some time to get there but I never had any doubt. Thank god B Arthur could see through all the media shit written about him.

  • I know which player I’d have rather had over their careers . Billy’s a little grub , but from a footballer perspective and not just a YouTube highlights perspective his career has been much more successful .

    • x2
    • Highlights wise I think it’s neck and neck. Slaters has had more consistency but if you take out last year and the first half of this year Hayne hasn’t been inconsistent in my view. I think Slater though plays at the same level in nearly every game so he wins the consistency award. Hayne has played in some shocking eels teams though and I reckon if Slater had been in those teams over the years there is a high chance he would had less impact than Hayne because Hayne can create for himself where Slater, particularly early in his career, was more of a finisher.
    • Slater is a better all round footballer id rather him over hayne hurts to say that
    • Agree wiz anf affside. A real kent of a bloke and rule breaker but an overall damn good fullback.
      .
    • Better team but not better player.
  • Career wise, Slater takes it easy. Hayne wouldn't be close, not strong enough mentally to achieved Slater's standard. In saying that though when Haynes on, there probably isn't a player in the game I would rather watch.
    • I don’t disagree but it’s a lot easier to be consistent when your team is always in the top 4 teams in the comp.
  • I would say in terms of consistency - Slater in my view wins hands down.

But in terms of skills and ability at their best - Hayne wins hands down.

    • X100.

There is no better player in the NRL than a fit, focussed and motivated Hayne - his only issue is that we have rarely seen all 3 of these attributes lately regarding Hayne. In my 43 years of life I have never seen a more complete talented player than Hayne on his day and probably never will. Just glad I got to see him in the blue and gold and at his best.
