Spagnolo ready to launch another attack on the club

For someone who claims to love the club like Roy Spagnolo does, he sure knows how to stick the boot in.

I have it confirmed from one of my sources that Roy is trying to call for an Extraordinary General Meeting in an attempt to remain eligible to run for the board.

He wants to remove the board installed by Max Donnelly so he can run once again. He has cited the club constitution in this attempt.

However, the club constitution is currently not in effect. Due to an administrator being appointed, the OLGA supersedes any club constitution. For this EGM to be called, Max Donnelly would have to permit it.

This move displays an open contempt for the club's membership base and demonstrates how dangerous Spagnolo and his factions are. Let's not forget this is the same board member who was investigated for alleged vote tampering in the 2013 board elections.

Spagnolo was also found by the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority to be "not a fit and proper person to be the member of the governing body of a registered club."

As a collective fan base I believe it is imperative, for the future of our club, that the recommendations that Max put forward are put in place and that this serve as a warning to the State Government that the factions remain alive and well and the only way to deal with them is to ensure the new constitution is endorsed and enacted.

As fans we need to make it clear, ROY IS NOT WELCOME.

Spagnolo's full submission is attached.

NB: I ask that you guys keep your comments regarding Roy clean. He's gone after this site once before. We don't want to give him any ammunition to do it again.

  • We would be much better as a club with this board out, i agree with Roy, they need to go, as does the whole new system.

But Roy or any of his stooges are not the answer, nor are any of the old factions or board members.

    • A removal of the board via this mechanism would allow Roy back in. You can't have it both ways.

      • Look at you, ive been back for 2 posts, and here you are trying to start an argument/fight, im not interested mate, go argue with somebody else and then threaten that they arnt allowed to defend themselves, i'll be expressing my opinions in good time.

        • He’s not trying to start an argument. Settle down.

          Hes stating common sense.

I blame Frankie Fong for these events...;)

    • Yeah you say they the current board need to go, but who do you replace them with? I don't see quality people lining up. You only have to look at the last few elections to see we don't have quality people willing to step up into roles on the board.
    • Welcome back Snake

      • Thanks legend, youre a good man Frankie, always with the courage to defend freedom and no bullshit, it never goes unnoticed mate.

  • Id be very careful as eels fans voting for anything that Max has put forward without very careful consideration.

The proof in the pudding is how things are going at the moment and its never been worse.

    • Have you read the new constitution Max has put forward? It would be the most modern constitution in Australian sport. It would prevent factionalism, it would allow for proxy voting, it would ensure what has happened for near on 20 years never happens again.

This isn't about the running of our football team, it has nothing to do with the appointment of coaches or anything like that. This is about the future of our lifeline. Our funding body. Hell, this has nothing to do with Bernie Gurr. This is all about the Leagues Club.
