Every now and then you hear a piece of commentary that's just so good, you play it back continuously.

Now I'm no fan of Vossy, but that call he made when Sivo steam rolled Tedesco is an absolute gem. It's got me thinking, there's been many of them over the years what's one that you could replay relentlessly...

  • I loved The Moose.... Rex Mossop. He was Captain Obviouse before the term was invented.

"It was a game of two halves" ..... or "He's progressing the ball in a forward manner"

    • Vossy is great because he says them intentionally but Rex is King (literally). This is from his obit:

Mossop admitted to “an opinion on every conceivable thing. Like it or lump it.’’ His opinion on women argued, “A brainy woman is a dangerous woman’’, and on homosexuality he insisted, “I’m not homophobic, I just don’t want anything to do with them.’’

As Australia’s king of tautology, his best-recalled phrases included “A little bit marginal”; “Now the referee is giving him a verbal tongue lashing”; “He seems to be favouring a groin injury at the top of his leg”; “He’s running sideways and not making much forward progress”; “The kick had both height and elevation”; and “I don’t want to sound incredulous, but I can’t believe it”.

      • Rex lived in the street that leads to Reef Beach, Sydneys nudist beach.  He apparently once complained about the number of people walking around his neighbourhood near the beach entrance, nude by saying something like "I'm sick of walking out my front door and having genitals "shoved down my throat" before he realised what he said.

      • PT. He must have learnt that about women from my mum . She was his PA when he sold cars!!

      • Blossom for me - Won Casey was just an arrogant prick imo.

Best appearance on TV for Won was when Normie Rowe tried to snot him on camera - loved it.

  • Cricket commentary England v west Indies

"The bowlers Holding, the batsmen Willy".

  • “SIMPLY DANCING, DANCING HIS WAY THROUGH THE OPPOSITION”

  • "Gatting doesn't know what's happened to it. Still doesn't." - Richie Benaud.

  • I am a Vossy fan. His weekly column - this year it's Vossy's Verdict - is the best weekly article published on Fox Sports.

  • I'm a massive Vossy fan. The guy is a smart-arse, but he's at least he's funny with a couple of one-liners every game. He's generally pretty neutral as well. I like his call from the Penrith game... "It's the battle of the hyphens!" (RCG and JFH).
