So because i am a weirdo and have no life, i have been investigating this whole Mahoney not announced thing to see if it actually has been. Coming across the Kennel talking about the signing thinking someone there may have actually shown the announcement. Turns out nothing. It was quite funny actually, trying to justify why it hasn't been announced to the point where they said it was because they were getting Reed in 2022 and They were waiting on Paulo for a package deal LOL. But it is simple you are over the cap Canterbury, they do not believe it simply saying they get rid of Thompson and Cotric happy days, doesn't work that way as you have to fill a squad, 30 men by mid 2023, if you don't then you have not met the NRL standards, they have money but not enough for a squad when every club sets their money to have 100k or so left over. Another was saying it is TPA's, but doubt Mahoney would sign unless TPA's were sorted.
Anyway, still hilarious to look over and in february someone mentioned they are fearing he will backflip, wont be the case but just one little thing to mainstream media the longer this goes and they are screwed lol. But i will mention this part, they brought up one of my blogs for a laugh, the blog was me justifying Hodgson's signing at the time, they pretty much said how could we rate Hodgson over Mahoney. Some commented that but majority of us said both players have positives and flaws and let's give JH the benefit of the doubt, these troglidites laughed it up at us, even getting a thread going of saying last time Parra won a comp this and this for example last time parra won a comp non of this squad were born, i know hilarious aye, when they should look in their own backyard first. Saying Mahoney left to be with Burton like he is the messiah, guys you barely beat North Queensland and lost to Brisbane, you are a bottom 4 team despite added additions and until you have a quality 7 you will be that.
Im not worried or concerned just thought it's a funny thing to bring up on a wednesday afternoon, but i just want to day to come where Mahoney's deal gets knocked back and he goes elsewhere like the Dolphins or us in 2023 due to salary cap issues, that will be close to as being as happy seeing a premiership
Here is the part where they link my blog, think i will try them for defermation, lol kidding. And before some say why would i go on another site, well i am also a league fan and like to see imputs and reactions to other league fans. If you do not wish to view the link due to it possibly making your skin crawl that is very reasonable.

They will need to move on some of their recent 'marquee' signings before signing Reed. Typical Gus management.
The story will get a lot of traction should this not be resolved by SOO.
Then add in this since this article reported Canterbury have 21 players (Cotric was there at the time) contracted for 2023, Marshall-King and Hetherington have options apprarently. They had 500K left to fill 9 spots, Cotric was on roughly 650K so not sure how much Canberra are paying but you would think half so round it out to 300k so boosts it to 800K to fill 10 spots, 80 x 10 is 800K, can be done. Well then add in Sutton who you would think is getting around the 300k range, Hetherington and JMK have mutural options apparently but Barrett said they need two hookers so maybe they keep Biondi-Odo and Cook as back-ups and move JMK on.
So if they keep Hetherington he could be on 200k, down to say 300k after Sutton deal. so 23 players with 300k left. Then release Thompson you would say 800k cut to 400k to get rid of him, 600k left 22 players. Then Allan and Flanno on 500k each, split in half to 250, frees up 2 spots and 500k. so 1.1mil 20 players. After that there is nobody left they want to get rid of. Bulldogs fans believe they have cash as they 9 off contract. 8.85mil of their cap was in use for 2023 before Cotric left.
Then you add in Vaughan and Dufty, they have no back-up fullback and they could replace Vaughan and Thompson at Prop with Hetherington and Sutton but not looking great.
So 1.1 mil for 10 spots averages to 110,000 per player in their squad. If they keep JMK, Dufty and Vaughan it is less. It can be done, doesn't mean it should be done.
Only 18 of those 20 are recognised players, Alamonti and Cook havent debuted. So going into the season with 18 recgonised players is not smart or great business either, considering they are relying on Burton to be their saviour and he has no 7 to help. No junior or money to get a 7.
What does everyone else think? Are they in trouble and Mahoney and Kikau may have to re-negotiate? or will it get done and nothing to see here.
Axel is right, give it another month or two and it will start to get concerning.
The journos haven't picked on the dogs yet. It's still too early in the seaon. Wait a few weeks, once they've lost a few more games and the noise about the coach get louder. The blood letting and shedding of players will start then.
Upon seeing MeelK's blog about Isaako makes me think are the Bulldogs doing that next year? 500,000 is a marquee player so makes me think that how they are doing it?
Bulldogs are a garbage club and their NRL side is a laughing stock. They played out of their skins against the Broncos and still lost. Reed deserves everything he gets for signing with that basket case. None of the current crop or any of the new guys (Reed, Kikau) will play finals again. The Dogs are a decade off 8th spot at best. Good!!!
Well it seems the model they have moved towards is win in two years and worry later, they will have only 18-20 players that are not from NSW cup or juniors the year before so 8-10 players on league minimum, also will not have cash incase of injury or to upgrade deals throughout the year. That is awful, you are praying for no injuries.
Mutt's do you think the deals will go through and it is a case of "don't come to us if you are in trouble fielding a team" from the NRL or maybe the Dogs need to renegotiate the deals of Mahoney and Kikau (which they can do as it is their contract and null and void at this point) with the risk that say the Dolphins can then interviene.
And in terms of the extra cap for next year with 95% Bulldogs have 32 players within their squad and development deals, i believe they will go over their 95% easily.
As much as I would love Reed to stay, he has signed with another club. Unless he goes back to Parra to talk, all this is wishful thinking. So Hodgo won't be coming, he will go back to England & maybe get a start there, so where that leave us. The young Bulldogs hooker looks promising, but let's be real, Gould won't let him go because that's their back up. I'm thinking if you sign Ash Taylor & start training him & building his body for a dummy half, with our coaching staff he would be a skilful hooker, cheap buy say for a year. BA has done wonders with players needing help, he improved Moses defence & I believe if you work on Ash, he could be a great dummy half.
That Biondi-Odo? You know he was an Eels junior? But Barrett said specifically he wants 2 hookers in 17 so they will keep Biondi-Odo with Reed I presume.
Hodgson won't go back to England thought, he wants to live in Sydney, only way I see him in UK is one more season of footy for big money and coke back and retire in Sydney but I think he either plays or goes into a coaching role with us, either way he is with us next year.
I'm assuming if you sign with a club, surely you have to be 100% fit, you can't limp in & expect the same payments you were signed for before injury. He might not return to England, but surely we won't be taking chances with him for 2yrs. We have options & I'm sure we will find solutions.
I will say this, anything they said about Hodgson being a stupid signing is spot on.
