Solid Win - are we back .

Solid win, nice patches of support play, some key players hiting form ( TAHU, MOI MOI ) maybe we have turned the corner and are playing on the up.  I think the 2nd phase support play suits our players best. We dont have forwards other than FUI who can hit and bend the line back consistantly. The short passing game perfected by Cayless and Hindy work as great foils to get a roll on and that is us to the letter.

Starting to like ROBSON at 9 also, adds more to team that MK and we need to perserve with him there as his defence is spot on.   Might be getting torwards 09 form soon......

  • Yeah it was solid. Mortimer is still a worry... And we are so so so predictable, im sitting in my lounge room and can read the next plays, so im sure other teams can as well... Mortimer at half wont bring a premiership
    • Bert,

I love his heart and determination but I have serious doubts about him as well. He is not shaping our attack and has plenty of mistakes in him. Teams are treating him like a speed hump. Starting to think , we need to play deeper like the Canberra days when Ricky Suart took 20 metre bullet balls and was 20 metres further back giving tthe outside backs depth and angles. Totally against how all NRL: sides play these days.....
    • Thurston returns but Mortimer leads Eels to comeback victory.
      http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/thurston-returns-but...

Mortimer had his best game this year so far. Morts is our halfback and will only get better.
    • Mortimer is getting better, Kris Keating is the real worry, The number of times he held the ball when running instead of passing it out wide was frustrating. When he does try to throw the rare pass he holds it up too long. Even saw him throw a shocker behind the backline, I know you guys say give him a chance but this is NRL level not country football. Just not good enough. The Keating Brothers are the Eels weakest links in the team.
    • after a terrible first half though, he did pick his game up in the 2nd half. Alot of young players who make a couple mistakes would not have been able to keep their head up and continue trying. I think that also comes down to the older guys in the team helping his confidence when he does stuff up.
  • team moulding well.
robson is playing good smart footy at 9 and moi moi is getting to where he should be, playing with venom.
morts will be ok maybe he needs a bit more security as he is getting hit and we need to proterct him.
overall was a stressful wait till the end but happy to win.
    bring on the dogs now
  • I agree,

When you watch good play makers ala- Thurston, Lockyer, Cronk, Soward, Pearce etc... When in the opposition 20, they take control, they have to have the ball in their hands, keep the opposition guessing. Short passes, long passes, short kicks, show and go, dummies... you know what i mean, thats how you score points, Mortimer just doesnt do it enough. He is predictable.

Take Cowboys first try tonight, thurston to the line, short ball to an on running player straight to a hole, TRY...

    Mortimer take note...
    • Guys you have to remember Morts has not even played a whole season in the NRL yet. Guys like Thurston, Cronk and even Pearce have played a few more seasons. I remember Pearce was struggling when he first started at the Roosters bu t look at him now - Origin material.
    • you could also say that, hayne plays this sort of role for us.
  • Not impressive at all
still way too many penalties and ridiculous errors, but boy we needed those 2 points

"Spot on HKF. Gus and co really put the spin on thick for Galvin to get him to change his mind and go with the Dogs, but the pressure differential between the two clubs is HUGE.
