So who will replace Semi?

Even with a disrupted season due to his personal life, Semi still scored 17 tries.  His record of us over the past five seasons is incredible.  Who will replace him?  A signing, a member of the current squad or an up and comer like Greg Leleisiua.

Personally, unless we have a signing, I see Gutho at 1, French on the wing.

Is Greg ready?

Thoughts please, as people are saying we will be better next year, but we just lost one of our biggest attacking weapons!

  • Greg L may be ready, but I can't see him leap frogging Hoffman or Auva'a for round 1.

At this stage it will be Hoffman or Auva'a with who replaces Semi, most likely Auva'a.  Without any additional new signings I would think the following would be our backline for Round 1 if Gutho is fit.

    1.  Gutherson

    2.  Hoffman/Auva'a

    3.  Jennings

    4.  Takairangi

    5.  French

    • Cheers mate.

  • It does look bare without big Semi.  Lets hope we can get him back in May.

  • Hoffman and Avau'a.
I'd fark off Taka and put Gutho there and Bev at #1
  • I'm 41, haven't played for 2 years but I reakon I would be a good option. Would definitely show more than most of the team did tonight.
  • If Greg L doesn't get things right for 2018 and depending where French plays then the player who replaces semi is not atvthe club right now.

Very light on good 1st grade wingers
  • The loss of Semi worries me more than anything. I could count at least 4 games this year that we win only because of him. Take those away and we barely scrape into the 8. It's a very significant loss and one that is nigh on impossible to replace. This is our biggest issue going into 2018.
    • There is no doubt semi is a huge loss and his input as you say likely lead directly to many wins. But I'd say Gutherson directly lead to more wins and we still managed alright when he got injured. Maybe just maybe with a full off season the players can alter their games just enough to cover for semi not being apart of the team. Here's to hoping.
  • Maybe Semi replaces Semi after his stint in France. That's what we're all hoping because he isnt replaceable. When does that French Rugby season finish again?

  • Agree.
    No Semi, no semi's.
