Going through my shed today and I found one of my old prized possessions that managed to survive my 20s when I pretty much tossed everything I wished I still had . One of many Powell Pereltas I owned , this one was one of my last hence its in pretty good nick considering the thrashing they used to get .Powell Perelta Skull N SwordIndependent TrucksNachi bearingsCockroach wheelsFound all the original Bones nose bone and rails alsoPretty much the dream set up of any 80s kid into skateboarding . Ones I remember owning which I'd love to still have nowadays to put on the shed walls were a couple of Tony Hawks ( before he was THE Tony Hawk ) , lance mountain , mike Mgee , Stev Cab , skull N Sword , and before my PP love I'd had a Bonza regret not keeping that and a Reflex ( again would be a massive Aussie icon collectors board ) .I remember days upon days watching the Bones Brigade ( animal chin lol ) and just dragging little street ramps we'd knocked up with the mates old mans jigsaw , and whacking them in the midele of the roads and cars having to just drive around us . I'm so glad this board survived along with one Mongoose BMX I had which has seen better days . Still has all the Araya gear on it and might be a nice little resto job when the young blokes a bit bigger .Ahh the memories , feeling very old :(

  • You forgot the cockroach wheels, nachi bearings were a must have.
    • Mate , Nachis were non negotiable lol , I had a few sets of the Powel Peretla wheels ( can't remember what they called em but they had bones on em ) prior to Cockroaches but after my first set of Coackroaches I never looked back . Theses ones I have here are in good nick , dont have the cockroaches around the outside anymore but the inner print is still perfect .
  • Yep started on Powell decks then got right into breaking Christian Hosoi decks then Santa Monica airlines, Alva, Schmitt, Sims, had a few Mullens/PP trick decks too, a few locals had built pretty hefty half pipes in their backyards.

Cockroach wheels were a bit big for my liking but great for hill slides when they first came out, they were real soft, i was a fan of Alva and Sim wheels, Nachi bearings were about the only good ones out here in those days, they were the go too.

    Happy days

    • Rodney Mullen was my favourite skater
  • Have you seen the movie/doco "All this mayhem" about the Aussie Pappas brothers? If not, do yourself a favour and watch it. Great doco.
If nothing else, will give you a new perspective on Tony Hawk.
