Well for starters, stop talking about getting a new coach. He isn't the one who takes the field and plays, the boys do that and he certainly isn't the one giving away the silly penalties or taking the wrong option on the field. I for one think BA deserves to see out his contract as long as he can see that things need to change and makes some changes.
I think were the Eels need to start is with our playing roster. We have had players here for a while who just aren't living up to expectations or are getting old and need to retire or go to Super League to finish their careers. I am sorry about saying that about some of our players but the team comes first for the supporters. That's elite sport for you!
Player's I think should be retained;
Alvaro. He is going from strength to strength. He may not bend the line a lot but he is young, can tackle the house down and is getting much better at eating up the meters. He is a real work horse and we need that. He is a younger version of Mannah with a better tackling rate.
Kaysa. He is injury prone but when he isn't and is on, he is a great hooker. I wouldn't be signing him for a lot and on a short term contract as he needs to get regular games under his belt and remember that we need him to run almost as much as we need him to pass. The odd kick here and there to take pressure off our halves wouldn't go astray either.
Manu. He got off to a slow start but he is our most dangerous forward, can pass at the line and create a line break or two. He is getting on a bit but is also an old head which we need moving forward.
Tepai. He gets a few head knocks which is concerning but he is getting much better at running good lines and is still very young (For a forward).
Brown. Hasn't had a great year due to injury and our slow start to the season but has plenty of mongrel about him.
Moses. He still needs work but tries his guts out and is only getting better the more games he plays for the Eels. No more bombs when kicking from within our half and instead going for field position is his greatest weakness at the moment. His defensive skills were the worst thing about his game but he has come along way with that and I see him as our long term half.
Michael Jennings. Still a very good center and also an old head which we need going forward.
George Jennings. He has earn't a spot in our side as his carries are exactly what the Eels need. He still has some things to learn but he and Bev are our wing combination who both have youth on their side.
French. I think his best position is wing. He is a great finisher and isn't as small as everyone makes out but is a bit light on. Another 2 to 5 kilo on him wouldn't hurt but would likely slow him down a fraction.
Gutho. He is our captain and short of his brain fart in missing that ball last night he has been one of our best.
Players we can consider retaining;
Mannah. He is a meter eater this season but doesn't have an offload and isn't a tackling machine like Alvaro is.
Gower. He may be getting on a bit and is not the best forward but he has a great off load and wouldn't be overly expensive. A good bench forward.
Kenny. I love the guy but he really needs to get rid of the silly penalties. He has gotten better but still has one of two in him and we don't need any more than one.
Takarangi. When he isn't injured he is a good player. His laterl movement isn't great but he can play.
Hayne. He needs to pull some 09 stuff for the remainder off this season or our money is better spent elsewhere. I know that is a lot to put on him but this is elite sports we are talking about.
Unfortunately, the rest of our playing roster just aren't consistent enough or are getting on in age. BA needs to get heavily involved in the market for some talent and some up and coming talent to set up the Eels for years to come. Look how the Panthers go when they loose a player to injury or they get better money elsewhere. They just churn out another great junior.
I love any player that plays for the Eels but as a club they just can't let this kind of thing go on any longer. We need results and we need them to start next season ans sustain us for seasons to come.

Mate, the buck starts and stops with the coach! No team ever one a Premiership without a decent coach! The coach is responsible to ignite the players, to motivate the players, and IF the players are under performing then the coach needs to correct them and IF they refuse to respond then the coach replaces them with someone else. It’s the coaches job ( which he’s paid an ample salary) to do his job to prepare an adequate game plan and make use of the bench players to the team’s advantage. All this Brad Arthur has failed to accomplish since he’s been at the helm! It’s time for somebody else who can do the job correctly as it’s been 30 plus year of mediocrity with NO Premiership! Both the defence and attack of this team is abysmal and Brad Arthur is responsible for both these areas!
