Smith vs Archer

Why is this numpty Smith allowed so much latitude in regards to arguing penalties,no-try calls, ruck infringements etc, etc, etc.I've found with Archer we are given the teacher scolding pupil mentality whereas Friday nights effort he seemed to prolong conversations with Archer where i thought a cuppa would not have looked out of place.Cameron Smith's argument could be heard off and on with the ref microphone snippets which were comical at times of that of a two year old baby being told off. This is not a blog about how fair the ref is, it merely is written to point out why this donkey is allowed to argue the point with refs on a week to week basis.Archer tends to have the last word in any call of captain queries but this guy seems to ALWAYS have the last say, maybe it's some sort of word association hypnotism that they've learned at Melbourne.

  • yeh agree and i couldnt believe smith said we got nothing to loose to him if i was archer i woulda said well not my fault its yours.
  • During his rant though he did point out one very important fact. One that has been mumbled amongst every non-Storm supporter of the game..."We have nothing to lose"....and that is exactly why they can not be allowed to continue to play this season. They have been handed a position to manipulate the outcome of the competition.

It's important to remember that Craig Bellamy is their coach so aside from a NSW Origin victory, anything is possible.

The incident between Hayne and Slater has been left untouched thus far....For a few reasons I think, obviously the Origin impact, secondly we won, which is always nice, and thirdly seeing Billy cop one on the chin could never be a bad thing-BUT-Lets say its the run to the finals. The Storm can throw games at will to manipulate the series, they can niggle and goat as they did on Friday in the hope to have a player suspended-sure they may cop a week or 2 themselves but as their captain and leader proudly stated to everyone watching "They have nothing lose". Same with a cheap shot that may injure an opposition player (again as we saw on Friday), normally a players suspension that in turn affects a clubs performance serves as a deterrent for such behaviour, but again, to quote their captain "They have nothing to lose".

They can not be allowed to play on.

    Go Parra
  • Agreed completley, the majority of other captains are told simply to shut up. Archer is reknowned for marching teams 10 metres and scolding players that talk to him even politely, except a few chosen few, where as you put it "a cuppa would not have looked out of place." Smith, Thurston, and Prince come to mind for Archers bum chums along with Hodgson when he was still playing. But unfortunatley for Parra and Blues fans he seems to hate Gidley and Hindy, I remember many times him telling both off.
  • yeh agree you jazze jase it would not be hard for them to "fix" a game to allow a team to win and one to loose. it only takes a few passes over the sideline, a missed tackles or a missed conversion on purpose and the win could go to the other team. It will be ahrd come finals time for the nrl and its teams because i sure some clubs will hate it if the storm an illegal team cost them a place in the finals. Thats why i think the nrl shoulda let them continue but sit out the players that add the value they are over every week, one week have slater and cronk, next inglis, blair and finch and so on, or allow them to play as a wildcard for another team. Have the last 4 or so teams names in a hat and draw it out and they get that player for the round or even the rest of the year. This way teams like the sharks and raiders have a chance with inglis or slater in the side. say allow them to play with slater and inglis(equals the amount over the cap) to play for the two lowest teams for the season to even the comp out.
    • You can't cause the roster of the top 25 is still over, it's like us with Shackleton out injured, we can't just replace him with another player of equal value and he comes back at the end of the season. The salary cap covers depth of a playing squad, them sitting out does not cover that.
  • smith and Archer a best mates, look how Archer helped the storm in the GF last year lol
