Slater suspension fears as Storm beat Sharks to reach grand final

In what would be a cruel twist of fate, retiring Storm fullback Billy Slater could be rubbed out of next Sunday's grand final despite scoring two tries to help book Melbourne's passage into the decider.

The Storm dominated a depleted Cronulla 22-6 in Friday night's preliminary final at AAMI Park to claim a spot in their third consecutive grand final, but they could be without their most dynamic player.

Slater faces an agonising wait to find out on Saturday if he has been charged by the match review committee for a shoulder charge on Sharks winger Sosaia Feki in the 14th minute of what was his final outing in Melbourne.

  • If he isn’t charged the game should be boycotted by viewers because it’s evident we are watching a competition that is rigged anyway .

    • Does your comment fit in with what I have been saying for years Wiz?

Now the Betting Agencies have control of the game it is fooked.

SportsBet - "Official partners of the NRL"

    • Bloody oath. But this is the bloke who only played 2 games and got SOO man of the series.

  • I would love it if he missed out, love it.
    • It would make my year should that grub end his career like that after the way he’s played the game . He’s been on of the biggest grubs and protected species for years . It would be ironicly satisfying to see him rubbed out of a GF . On the other hand if he isn’t itd pretty much sum up his whole career to be allowed to play when he should be suspended .

      • And to top it off the Storm lose next week, would be great.

Billys always been a dirty player,  id love to see him miss next week.

  • Slater will not be suspended. He is so fucking special. The nrl will do nothing but sweep this shoulder charge under the carpet for their golden boy.
    • You don't say much these days Moray, but when you do, the world should take notice.

  • Melbourne players do whatever it takes to stop tries they always have. Offside, wresting, holding players down, holding the ball. As I said yesterday they were penalised 3 times when sharks were less than 5 yards from scoring. The refs have never pulled them up enough hopefully the judiciary will this time.

  • If he misses the GF and never plays again, it would be just desserts for all the flying ninja kicks and illegal block plays that have protected him from the proper contesting of the bomb all these years.

"FMD. I thought he was smart enough to be neutral in this. But here he is throwing his full support behind the Melbourne Storm publicly and we now have the private messages too. This is astonishing. "

"At least there are now only two options for V'Landys when the court makes its determination.
After V'Landys stupidly sided with Storm in saying $300k is fair, if the court goes that way then every NRL fan bar Storm dimwits will say the fix was in.…"
